  6. Washington State Mindset Washington State Mindset 1. All Contests should match the National Tech Standards 2. Local, Regional, State and National contests should be scaffold ensuring each level of competition covers more content than the previous. 3. The National Competition is up to 8 hours long and should test all knowledge learned in the standards. 4. The State Competition is up to 6 hours and should test up to 75% of the standards 5. Regional Competitions up to 4 hours and should test a majority of the standards as allowed by the host resources 6. Local competition is done in class or after school and is limited to the chapter and the local host resources

Communication Communication October and November Identify where you can host the competition Notify the Region Representative of your interest to host November Solicit advice\support from other region advisers Gain tentative commitment from judges\host sites for contest Fill out the Contest Announcement template and provide it to the Region Representative

  23. State Competition Implementation State Competition Implementation Procedures Procedures 1. An Adviser Submits the New Contest Application form which has been reviewed and approved by their technical advisory (Of a related industry to the contest) 2. To be considered, a minimum of two regions need to have committed to participate with a minimum of 5 high schools 1. Each year an annual review of a State contest will take place to ensure minimum participation is achieved. 2. If minimum participation is not achieved the Technical committee will determine if the contest will be offered the following year 3. For contests with specific equipment or facility requirements: 1. The New Contest Application must have an identified facility or partner who will commit to helping set up the state competition 2. If the identified facility and/or partner becomes unavailable the Technical committee will determine if the contest will be offered that or any following year 3. Each year a financial review of the State contests will take place to ensure that it is financially viable for future state competitions.
