  2. About HFIA Statewide, nonprofit trade association established in 1989. Our mission is to promote healthy and productive forests and a sustainable forest industry through forest management, education, planning, information exchange, and advocacy. Our programs promote healthier forests, increased business in Hawaii s forest industry, and more jobs within the sector. 250 members including individuals and public and private businesses and corporations.

  3. Hawaii Forest Institute Hawai i Forest Institute In 2003 HFIA formed HFI, a 501c3 nonprofit organization. Focused on forest restoration, educational programs, information dissemination, and support for scientific research.

  5. Hawaiis Woodshow, Na L au o Hawai i Only statewide juried woodworking exhibition initiated in 1993. 30th Anniversary Woodshow will be held at Hawaii Opera Plaza in Honolulu. Calls for the use of Hawaii-grown tree species. Promotes and encourages an appreciation for Hawaii s woodworkers. Promotes the positive role forests play in our economy and ecology. Innovation & Imagination (I+I) Student Challenge, Initiated in 2017 Challenges students to construct artwork using a mix of donated Hawai i-grown wood.

  6. Incorporating forest stewardship activities and land- based education into restoration efforts. Honolulu Zoo and Pana ewa Zoo Discovery Forests are forest demonstration projects featuring Native and Polynesian-introduced species. Keauhou Bird Conservation Center (KBCC) Discovery Forest is a native forest with Acacia koa and hi a Lehua as the pioneer species. KBCC is saving critically endangered Hawaiian birds from extinction including the Palila, Akeke e, Akikiki, and the Alal , which is extinct in the wild. Discovery Forest Projects

  7. Dry Forest Restoration Ka p lehu Dryland Forest Preserve Manage 76-acre Preserve for KS. 43 acres intensive management. Provide forest stewardship activities and environmental and cultural education. Benefit residents and visitors via classroom and outreach events. La i pua Dry Forest Preserves Manage 70-acre Preserve for DHHL. Designated as critical habitat. Invasive weed control. Collect seed, propagate and outplant T&E species. P lamanui Dry Forest Preserve Manage 53-acre Preserve for Palamanui Global Holdings. Designated as critical habitat. Invasive weed control and maintaining T&E species that we propagated and outplanted in previous years.
