  4. 2 types of programs - Rec / Comp Competitive kids - Development = Fun Goal 1 = Highest level of development in TX Practice and play against kids of similar level = Development Practice together, Play together = Development Set the bar high - Be positive, but honest = Development Practice, practice, practice, but test skills in competitive environments = Development (~3.5 practices / game) ADM skills base + Positional / Team Play = Development Great Coaching = Development Goal 2 - Make sure the kids have a great time!!

Association: TX Jr. Stars => DSTHL =>TAHA =>USA Hockey Team Size DSTHL Minimims are 10+1(SQ), 11+1(PW), 14+1(BT), 15+1(Midget) Max=18+2 IHAA Rule of Thumb = 15 skaters + 2 goalies Travel - Where / How much? 20-21 regular season games + playoffs + 2 tournaments ~10 weekend (assuming 3 game weekends) over ~6 months Typ. ~1-2 in Austin / SA DFW and Houston typ. Other cities possible based on teams in division, scheduling, etc Division Selection / Leveling Tournament Labor Day Tournament = Leveling Tournament League places us in appropriate competitive level

  6. Min 3 hrs. Instructional Ice Time/ Week, Squirts - Bantam Min 2 hrs. Instructional Ice Time/ Week, Midgets HS available also Professional Off-Ice Athletic Trainer - One 1 hour Session/Week per Team Pre-season Training Camp Specialized Contact & Checking Clinics Weekly Goalie Clinics Annual Pond Gym Membership Pond Hockey Academy Enrollment Experienced & Knowledgeable Coaching Staff Personal Player Evaluations

Competitive Level of Play Exposure to High Caliber Teams & Players Participation in DSTHL Leveling Tournament 20+ League Games Per Season 2 Tournaments per Season (Leveling + 1) Teams may opt to attend more Possible tournaments - Thanksgiving, Presidents day, MLK weekend Team Bonding / Hockey Family

  8. Based on interest level / numbers B team format similar to A team format. Tournament format vs. full DSTHL schedule Provides for Intermediate level

All interested must register - even if you will miss tryouts Tryouts free if registered before July 1st - After July 1 = $20 All Players should plan on attending all 3 try-out dates Excused absences will be granted for previously planned vacations, etc. Week 1 tryouts- July 14th-July 17th Players attending week 1 try-outs will be notified if they need to attend week 2 Week 2 tryouts- July 29th- July 31st This week of tryouts is for final selection (including players that missed week 1 due to excused absence) Final team rosters will be posted on IHAA website after final try-out. Players missing all 3 tryout dates will be evaluated during first available team practice

June 30 - Free Registration ends Weeks of July 14 and July 28 - Try-outs Aug 8-10 - Pre-season Training Camp Week of Aug 11 (tent) - Practice Begins Aug 16-17 - Body Positioning Clinic Aug 30-Sept 1 - Leveling Tourney ~Mid / Late Sept - DSTHL Scheduling meeting ~End Sept / Beginning Oct - 1st games (Sept 28,2013) ~Early / Mid Feb Regular Season Games end (Feb 9, 2014) ~Mid / Late Feb - Playoffs begin (Feb 22, 2014) ~Early March - Playoffs End (March 8, 2014) Possible tournaments - Thanksgiving, Presidents day, MLK weekend

  11. $3200 - $3600* *Range based on 17 players/ team, 4-6 teams total *Costs above include all practice ice time, clinics, league fees, 2 tournament entry fees, coaching stipend, & necessary apparel Fundraising Opportunities available for individuals & teams to offset costs

Objective tryout assessment of players by combination of coaches and independent evaluators Formal coach select interview process Season plans provided to all families so that they can follow the developmental path Specific developmental skill sets for each age In season coach evaluations and monthly coach education sessions

Goalie and skills specific clinics throughout season End of season skill evaluation and progress report Standardized off-ice hockey specific training by dedicated Conditioning Coach Coaches library for individual skill development Coaching Directory supervision and accountability to Season Plan
