Policy Main Points To avoid any possible miscommunication, the only person who can provide valid advice in relation to the policy is the Chair of Selectors, any other advice is invalid. As larger a team is expected to be selected and aiming for increases in future Paralympic Games and particularly thinking towards Brisbane 2032. Policy Main Points Two selection phases: Initial selection for top athletes [defined as those who won a medal at the 2024 Paralympic Games and compete at the 2025 Australian Championships). Remainder of the team (at end of qualification period). The policy effectively allow athletes to self-select except in cases where there are more than three athletes who have met the qualification conditions. Where more than three are qualified then 4.4.4.3 of the policy is used to separate the athletes. Team nomination is available, state your interest now. Team nomination is open now, register your interest ASAP: Deadline 5:00PM (AEDT), 1 April 2025
Advice Qualifyearly to confirm your place on the team. If more than three athletes eligible in your event then prove your superiority over the others. The selection panel will only select athletes into events in which they have met the AA eligibility criteria. Consideration for an athlete to compete in additional events will be a discussion between Athlete, Coach and AA HP prior to final entries. National Championships Exemption If you be unable to compete in the Open Para event at the Australian Championships in which you are seeking selection, you must submit an exemption prior to the Championships taking place, see form online.
Q & A Note that the only questions answered are those related to selection. All questions re; classification, preparation or travel and accommodation arrangements etc. will be addressed in a 2025 WPA Championships long list call following the National Championships. If you have 2 performance standards but you didn t medal at the 2024 Games can you still be selected in the first wave. No How likely is someone to be considered for selection based on achieving the entry standard? The team will effectively self select . Achieve the requirements and you are in the team if less than maximum number have done it.
Q & A Whether athletes who have attained multiple 'performance standards' will be prioritised for selection above otherathletes ? Athletes are prioritisedusing 4.4.4.3 but this is only important for more than three athletes in the same event. Whether athletes who have attained multiple 'performance standards' will be prioritised for selection above athletes who have only attained 'development standards See 4.4.4.3
Q & A Clear outlines around performance metrics and qualifying positions available for world championships. The document seems quite clear cut but often a lot of discretion is involved in selection what s the best chance of qualifying Do not read things which are not there, you are correct, the document is clear. Is there a quota for the total number of athletes that can be sent? No
