  1. 360 Review For Ministers

  2. The Review This review process is designed to provide feedback and developmental guidance to the minister of a church. The review is conducted using a model of ministry* which has six key elements: Vision Servant Leadership Personal Renewal Preaching and Teaching Coaching and Development Risk taking People chosen by the minister to give feedback as part of the review process will be asked to consider all aspects of this model. It is not intended or expected that any individual will demonstrate all of these attributes at the highest level, but rather that by considering all aspects the person will be able to identify areas for personal development based on a balanced and comprehensive assessment. *This model is adapted from Mirroring Jesus As A Leader, Peter Shaw (Grove Books)

  3. The Process A reviewer is identified to lead the process. This could be one of the deacons or elders in the local church but could also be the minister s mentor, another trusted colleague or a member of the Baptist Union National Team. 1. The minister chooses up to five people with whom they have worked closely during the preceding year and who can provide written feedback on the way they work, their strengths and development areas. These people could include deacons, ministry leaders in the church and other members of the congregation. It is highly beneficial if one of these people comes from beyond the church. Ideally the minister will select people who will be prepared and equipped to give specific and challenging feedback in the role of an honest friend . 2. Each of these people is invited by the reviewer to complete and return the Feedback Provider and Summary Evaluation (using pages 3-5 of this presentation). 3. The minister completes a self-assessment using the same questions. 4. The reviewer then drafts a short report which distills the key themes and some suggestions for action, illustrated and supported by specific comments and examples. 5. The reviewer meets the minister to talk through the report. 6. The minister then draws up a personal development plan for the coming year based on the findings of the review and presents this to the church leadership team. 7.
