  4. 4th ASEM Seminar on 4th ASEM Seminar on Nuclear Safety Nuclear Safety The 4thASEM Seminar was hosted by the Spanish Nuclear Safety Regulator, CSN in Madrid, 29-30 October 2015 The Seminar addressed the issue of KM to Enhance Nuclear Safety , which has become a high priority for national and international organizations working to ensure the safe and sustainable operation of nuclear facilities around the world. The program elaborated on: human resources development, education and training, knowledge management and knowledge networking as fundamental pillars of nuclear safety capacity building. The Seminar provided an outstanding opportunity to share ideas and experiences and to explore possibilities for Asia-Europe cooperation The Seminar was attended by 110 participants from 27 countries worldwide representing governmental institutions, operators, regulators, technical support organizations, research and development organizations, educational institutions and service providers Presentations 4thASEM Seminar

  6. 4th ASEM Seminar 4th ASEM Seminar Conclusions (1/2) Conclusions (1/2) The relevance of the elaboration and having available national strategic approaches to education and training The establishment of international networks helps ensure sustainable nuclear safety and security The provision of technical support services can be obtained by this networking as a way for the exchange of information, experience and knowledge The information related to KM can be centralized by all the actors and covered through the interregional cooperation Adequate metric and indicators should be used to ensure KM efficiency and effectiveness

  7. 4th ASEM 4th ASEM Seminar Conclusions (2/2) Conclusions (2/2) Seminar KM is critical in a situation where emergencies are very rare but response needs to be timely and effective Areas out of the scope of the seminar (i.e., radiation protection nuclear applications) need also enhancing KM KM regarding the organizational level, as an element of the management system of the organization Participants identified a list of topics of interest for future actions. The results of the Seminar (report/presentations) will be reported to the ASEM Senior Officials so they can be taken into account.
