7th grade Pre-Registration Today you will be learning important information about how to make your elective choices for your 7th grade year. Please pay attention. Your paper form will be necessary for making on-line selections next week. VERY IMPORTANT! Choose your classes based on what you like! You will not be allowed to change your schedule when you receive your schedule in August!
7thGrade Course Selection You will be choosing which electives you want to have for 7thgrade on this form. Packet due March 1st to 7th to your English teacher.
ONLINE Pre-Registration This packet will be your rough draft . You will register in Class Choice during your English class on March 9th. Your 7th grade schedule will be based on what you enter. We will not make changes in August. Your selections now determine what is taught in August.
7th grade Exploratories--Quarter long electives. All students will take 4 quarter long electives aka exploratories. Mandatory exploratories: Lifetime Sports Exploratory Health You will choose 2 of the following: GTT Pre-engineering Exp. Technology Language and Culture Study (Spanish) Exploratory Communications Exploratory Zoology
Semester and Year long electives You also can have either 2 semester electives or 1year long elective. Year long electives: Semester electives: Band-percussion or woodwind Beginning Art 7 Choir Theatre I Orchestra Theatre II AVID-application required Intro to Stagecraft Filmmaking I Read the course description handbook on the school s website for more information about a class. Computer Explorations 7/8*-must have successfully passed keyboarding Intro to Coding Intro to Horticulture *--denotes a pre-requisite course Family and Consumer Science I Family and Consumer Science II* Peer Tutor-teacher recommendation required
Completing your form 7th grade students have one elective class each semester. Choose one year long elective or two one-semester electives. Due to limited class sizes, it is recommended that a total of 5 elective choices be noted as the first or second choice may not be available. Number choices 1-5 with 1 being first choice and 5 being last choice. Required 7th Grade Classes English 7: Literature and Strategies English 7: Writing Composition CCSS Math 7 World Civilization 7 Life Science 7 Four 9-week Exploratory classes: Lifetime Sports and Exp Health 7 are mandatory. Choose 2 of the 4 courses below for the other two 9-week classes. ____GTT Pre-engineering Exp. Technology _X__Language and Culture Study (Spanish) _X__Exploratory Zoology Select one of these if you want one year long elective INSTEAD of two semester electives. Year-long Electives: ____*Band brass/percussion ____*Band woodwinds ____*Orchestra instrument________________________ ____Choir ____AVID application required Semester Electives: __1__Beginning Art 7 __4__Theatre I _____Theatre II _____Intro to Stagecraft __2__Filmmaking I _____*Computer Explorations I 7/8 _____Intro to Coding ____ _Intro to Horticulture __3__Family Consumer Science I ____*Family Consumer Science II ____*Peer Tutor (teacher recommendation required) You cannot take a year long elective AND 2 semester electives. It's one or the other. If you want to have two electives you must make 4 choices in this section. Number in order of preference. *prerequisite see course description book
Peer tutor Peer tutor requires you to complete an additional form. This is provided for you in your packet. Signed forms are due at the same time as your packet. You will not be able to make this elective choice online. You will be chosen based on staff recommendations. The counselor will register you for this course. On the course selection form, please write which elective you would like to replace for Peer Tutor. For example, if you would rather be Peer Tutor than Theater write Theater on the Peer Tutor line on the course selection form.
BE AWARE! Be wise. Make elective choices based on what YOU like. Don t sign up for a class just to be with your friends. We will not be making schedule changes because you changed your mind.
Honors Courses Honor s English-Writing You can choose to take an Honor s Writing course. This is a faster paced course than regular English and will require you to spend more time completing the writing assignments. You must complete the honor s rigor form. It is in the course description handbook and in the counseling office. It must be turned in with your course selection form. Honor s Math 7 Placement into Honor s Math 7 will be determined by your Spring Math ISAT scores. To qualify you will need to score advanced.
