  2. Vowel Matching Sing within your goalposts Show a bit of your top teeth all the time* The tongue should lie on the floor of the mouth and be relaxed Tip of tongue touch lower teeth Keeps lips as relaxed as possible

  3. Correct Vowels 1. Sound like the vowel 2. Look like the vowel 3. Feel like the vowel

  4. Vowels, Inside and Outside EE Stay within the goalposts Show a bit of top teeth Natural delivery, just like the ABC s AH Stay within the goalposts Show a bit of top teeth Don t drop jaw too far

  5. OH Keep a bit of the top teeth showing Use bottom lip to make most of the shape Move corners forward from AH to OH Leave the aperture higher on your face Ooh Show a bit of top teeth Move corners forward from OH to Ooh Smaller aperture than OH with relaxed lips. Keep the sound outside your mouth

  6. Short Vowels ih eh a uh ur Stay within goalposts Use a relaxed jaw, not a dropped jaw Send the sound up and out

  7. Vowel Match Technique Jim Speak credited to Jim Casey Focus on target vowel sounds Get to the target vowel immediately No migrating from the target vowel Prematurely turning to secondary vowel and/or the following consonant

  10. Jim-Speak Steps 1 - Syllables only, Chord-by-Chord 2 - Syllables only, more flow 3 - Syllables only, at pace 4 - Slow the pace and add some initial consonants 5 - Continue to add more consonants nearing the correct pacing and phrasing 6 - Sing real words/phrasing, THINK syllables
