Subject: A Level Psychology Terms What students will cover in their second year in this subject How you can best support them Subject Enrichment Autumn term First half term (ends 13thOct) Comparison of Approaches Biopsychology Research Methods Study day homework and set and revision is expected throughout the week. All homework will be set on Canvas so please enquire what they have received and to check Canvas Announcements. Memory long homework has also been set. A formal assessment point will be placed in this term assessing how students are doing. Again, please prompt them to revise and prepare. Guest Speaker Educational Psychologist Autumn term Second half term (ends 21 December) Biopsychology Research Methods Including inferential statistics Study day homework and set and revision is expected throughout the week. All homework will be set on Canvas so please enquire what they have received and to check Canvas Announcements. Students will be sitting 2 class assessments (30 minutes long) during this term. These will test Research Methods and Biopsychology. Mock week will be w/b 8thDecember. For psychology, this will be a PAPER 2 mock. Students should purchase a paper pack to practise exam skill and knowledge recall. Attachment long homework has also been set. Psychology Mentoring Club Biopsychology Lecture and Brain Dissection Dr Guy Sutton Life Behind Bars True Life Conference (These paper 2 topics will be completed this term)

Subject: A Level Psychology Terms What students will cover in their second year in this subject How you can best support them Subject Enrichment Spring term First half term (ends 9th Feb) Paper 3: Schizophrenia Paper 3: Aggression Help in preparing for a formal assessment in this half term based on an hours worth of written assessment of Paper 3 so far. Students must also be revising past content from Paper 1. Social Influence long homework has also been set. Continuously revising research methods as this is the largest section on the papers. Psychology Mentoring Club Spring term (Second half term ends 28th March) Paper 3: Aggression Paper 3: Relationships Students will be preparing for Mock examinations and a Formal assessment point. Again, please help by making sure students are organised and revising well for their exams and Mock week. Mock will assess Paper 3 so far and Paper 2 Research Methods. Psychopathology long homework has also been set. Psychology Mentoring Club Revision sessions Summer term (First half term ends 24th May. However, A Level and mixed study students last day of teaching before exams 12th May) Paper 3: Relationships Paper 3: Issues and Debates Supporting students who are in their final run up to exams. Helping them keep calm but organised and working hard is important here. Practising exam question techniques. Continuously revising research methods as this is the largest section on the papers. Subject: Level 3 Diploma Criminology Terms How you can best support them Subject Enrichment Autumn term First half term (ends 13th Oct) Introduction to Unit 3-Crime scene to courtroom AC1.1-Evaluate the effectiveness of personnel involved in criminal investigations Ac1.2-Evaluate the usefulness of techniques involved in criminal investigations Ac1.3-Explain how evidence is processed Study day and weekend homework will be set via canvas so remind students to stay on track with checking canvas regularly. Completing summary tables for each AC. Regular typing tasks will be set for students to upload paragraphs to canvas. Independent research on cases, real life case knowledge is needed to get the higher marks in the controlled assessment. A formal assessment will be placed this half term and this will be a write up of one personnel from AC1.1-reminder to ensure that all independent tasks and booklets are fully completed. Dr Emily Turner Dr Cliff Bacon Autumn term Second half term (ends 21 December) AC1.4 Examine the rights of individuals AC2.1 Explain the requirements of the CPS AC2.2 Describe Trial Processes AC2.3 Understand the rules in relation to the use of evidence in criminal cases AC2.4 Assess key influences affecting the outcomes of criminal cases AC2.5 Discuss the use of lay people in criminal cases AC3.1 Examine information for validity AC3.1 Draw conclusions for information Remaining up to date with homework and classwork tasks as folders will be checked and submitted ready for their controlled assessment this term. Students should be preparing for this controlled assessment by typing up sections using their notes. Ensuring all summary tables are up to date and complete. This paper can be synoptic so students should be recapping Knowledge learnt in Unit 2 Spring term (Second half term ends 28th March) Ac2.2 Discuss the aims of punishment Ac2.3 Assess how the forms of punishment meet the aims of punishment Ac3.1 Explain the role of agencies in social control Ac3.2 Describe the contribution of agencies in achieving social control Students will be preparing for Mock examinations and a Formal assessment point. Again, please help by making sure students are organised and revising well for their exams and Mock week. They must be revising everything they have learnt for Unit 4 up to this point. Summer term (First half term ends 24th May.
