Notification of Academic Adjustments: Professor of record is emailed a Disability Services Agreement (DSA) at any point in the term DSA lists approved classroom and testing adjustments provides explanations Important for students and faculty to meet and discuss plans for using adjustments in each class
Selected Testing Adjustments: Extended time for written and practical in-class quizzes, tests and final exams Extension based on the amount of time the class is permitted NOT the amount of time its expected students will need 1.5x most common Increased font size/line spacing/page size or colored paper Amount of increase on DSA Basic 4-function calculator Even on no calculator tests
Selected Testing Adjustments: Scribe Usually transcribes final answers only Alternative to scantron No scantron or scribe fills in at the end Use of computer to type answers With or without spellcheck Test in electronic format For use with reading or enlarging software Students with these adjustments may need to use the DSO Test Center.
Use of the DSO Test Center: In the SAU Rm 1150 28 seats; monitored computers, 4 private rooms Students with: Extended time Use of assistive technology Enlarging software Reading software Computer for typing answers Use of a scribe Separate test location Test center space is reserved IN ADVANCE by the student after making plans with their professor.
Selected Classroom Adjustments: Materials in enlarged font/ increased spacing /colored paper Use of dark markers on white board Materials in electronic format Use of personal laptop or classroom monitor To take notes To view projected materials in close proximity Extended time on assignments Flexibility in attendance requirements Faculty should contact the DSO if there are questions re. approved adjustments.
