  2. Established at the inception of college in the year 1971, we are one of the oldest departments. Since then, the department has constantly grown and shown remarkable progress in teaching- learning, research and extension and constantly evolving pedagogy. The Department offers Undergraduate Courses in Political Science. About the Department of Political Science The accomplished faculty members of the Department with specializations spanning diverse fields of political science have been committed to impart the knowledge of the discipline in a holistic, socially relevant and student-centric manner. Presently there are 19 faculty members and 285 BA(Hons) and 448 BA(Programme) students in the department.

Vision The Department aims to train and enable its students to develop a scholastic perspective in political science, cultivate new knowledge and innovative skills in order to grow as empowered young women and citizens contributing to social progress in tandem with the objectives of NEP 2020. To pursue academic excellence in teaching, research and extension.

SWOC analysis of the department OPPORTUNITIES & STRENGTH WEAKNESS Long Teaching Experience CHALLENGES Despite persistent efforts department has not been able to procure good research projects/ MOUs with other organizations and think tanks Student s stellar academic performance To prepare students to comprehend latest pedological changes and methods of study Highly qualified and experienced Faculty To equip students with theoretical rigor as well as technical skills and enable them to become globally competitive Faculty members have specialization covering all areas of the discipline Publishing and presenting research on National and International forum To create a more robust alumni data base Department engages in enriching teaching pedagogies (case studies with small empirical assignments like handling questionnaires, interviews, data analysis, conflict analysis, simulation exercises, focus group discussions and presentations based on the collected data)

Suggested roadmap & future plans Enhancement in learner-centric teaching pedagogy for a holistic development and conducting a quarterly pedagogical review amongst faculty members towards this Aiming for at least one Scopus publication per faculty at the earliest time frame possible and also receiving funding for a multidisciplinary research project Skill development of students through workshops and training programmes and simulation exercises
