  2. 2 Covid 19 Catch up premium What is this? How it will be paid? If you need to do anything keep census figures up to date How can you use this fund?

  3. 3 What was the allocation criteria for the Covid 19 catch up premium Calculated on a per pupil basis , each mainstream school gets a total of 80 for each pupil in reception years through to year 11 in 3 instalments Special , AP and Hospital schools get a total of 240 for each place for the 2020-21 academic year A typical primary school with 200 pupils will receive 16000 whilst a typical secondary school of 1000 pupils will receive 80000 Allocations are based on the latest available data A second instalment of the payment in early 2021 based on updated place data from October 2020 census. The second payment will take into account the initial part payment received

  4. 4 Use of Funding No need to apply , this was automatic Schools should use this funding for specific activities to support their children and have the flexibility to spend in the best way they consider Example 1; small group tuition or 121 tuition through the National Tutoring Program Example 2 :Assisting pupils who have fallen behind due to Covid The Education Endowment Foundation has published a support guidance for schools in relation to evidence based approaches to catch up

  5. 5 Accountability and Monitoring As with all government funding schools must be able to account for how the money is used to achieve a goal of getting back on track and teaching a normal curriculum as soon as possible Governors and trustees should scrutinise schools approaches to catch up and their plans for funding spend Retain all receipts and ensure all spending is recorded correctly

  6. 6 Exceptional costs funding associated with Covid 19 What can you claim for Additional cleaning costs over and above the norm Costs associated with having premises open , i.e additional heating , premises related costs due to being open for key worker & vulnerable children Support for free school meals You need to claim for this funding yourselves What you cannot claim for Loss of self generated income Additional staff costs

  8. 8 Academic Mentors & other support https://nationaltutoring.org.uk/ntp-academic-mentors available now The reception year Early Language Program from Spring term 2021 https:educationendowmentfoundation.org/covid-19resources/neli/ Schools in the most disadvantaged areas will be supported to employ in house academic mentors to provide small group tuition to their pupils Teach First will be supporting the recruitment ,training and placement of any additional staff needed

  9. 9 Monitoring of funding You must retain records to support your claim, these must be available to the Department for Education on request and be aware that any or part of any funding may be recovered if the conditions are not met You must make sure that all the details on your claim relate to costs associated with Covid 19 The claims can be subject to Audit at any time and visits from the DFE Claims that include items outside the usual will take longer , you need to specify why those items were needed
