Freshman Academy: Provide 9th graders with a small learning community designed to create a safe and positive environment that allows students to acclimate to the rigors of high school Effective budgeting Refine and adjust our modified zero- based budgeting process to ensure that resources are used effectively and efficiently to impact district goals Initiatives: What will Community Champions Cultivate and sustain community champions to support student achievement we do to achieve success? On-track for graduation-9th grade Implement a college/career awareness and readiness program to include college visits and all students earning post-secondary education credit before graduation. Decrease in number of disciplinary infractions (ISS, OSS, etc.) Increase in improved performance in Algebra I On-track for graduation-9th grade 90% of 9th grade students will earn the course credits they need to be on-track for graduation, earning 5 credits and completing Algebra I by the end of 9th grade. Increased percentage of students earning enough credits to advance to 10th grade. Freshman Academy Implement cross-curricular program in Freshman Academy. Teach concepts of self advocacy, academic resiliency and the growth mindset. Increase in improved attendance. Provide professional development for teachers to support these concepts. PLCs will create data-driven instruction and determine if students are mastering content. Provide professional development about effective PLCs On-track for graduation -10th grade: 65% of 10th graders will meet the benchmark for college readiness on the PSAT Leverage Math/Science coaches with PLCs in Math/Science PLCs will use common assessments to ensure all students are learning the same material. Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) PLCs will use Student Mastery Framework to demonstrate student mastery. 2

New teachers (accompanied by a dept. chair or mentor-teacher) will make regular classroom visits to observe veteran teachers. New teachers will receive professional development covering the basics of teaching (TAC/Gradebook set-up, Duties & Responsibilities, basic technology usage, etc.) prior to preplanning. New teachers will receive professional development regarding classroom management led by veteran teachers. Decrease in the percentage of student failures in new teacher classrooms. Regular and consistent communication between new teachers and stakeholders. Teacher retention: Increase retention of teachers beyond their 5th year to 59% New Teacher Induction Program Magnet applications will increase by 5 %. The number of in-district families who choose North Springs will increase by 5%. Surveys will demonstrate that stakeholders (parents, students, faculty, business and government community members) can articulate the unique opportunities available for students at North Springs and would recommend the school to friends and family members. Track and measure number of students completing pathways and count number of students in extra- curricular activities. Engage community in conversations to identify unique and distinct academic and extra-curricular opportunities North Springs can provide that will compel local families and out-of-district magnet students to make North Springs their school of choice. School and district culture: Increase the percentage of families and students who recommend North Springs High School as a place to attend school to a family member or friend Academic and Extra-curricular Programs Conduct research and collaborate with all stakeholders to ensure academic and extra-curricular offerings will provide NSCHS students opportunities that will help them succeed in their chosen post- graduation paths. 3

Committee of stakeholders is active, creates a rubric and meets at least quarterly. School groups suggest potential partners to be evaluated based on designated rubric. Increase in the number of partnerships that contribute resources (time, materials, or money) or opportunities to support school initiatives. Convene committee of stakeholders to focus on school s needs and serve as a central clearinghouse for community partnerships. Challenge all school groups* to Identify potential external organizations that our school can partner with to support students and to achieve school goals.
