MOOC design template "I found the pictures/diagrams an especially helpful way of 'seeing' the course [and] make me think about all sorts of aspects which I wouldn't have done before (am sure I would probably have only thought about the academic content!) But 'seeing' the assessment patterns, the different types of task we ask the students to engage with really made the course come to life and definitely presented it from a student's point of view Provides a set of tools and information sets that supports a learner-activity based approach Enables a consistent and structured approach to design, specification and review Helps us show the costs and performance outcomes of design decisions Puts the learning journey at the heart of the design process Enables the sharing of best practice Helps us choose and integrate a coherent range of media, technologies and pedagogies
Front page Designed to support submission of the initial Course Development Agreement, and can then be used as part of a working document throughout the design, specification, production and review cycle.
Activity Planner Activity: 35 mins Begin by breaking your course down into sequenced weekly chunks (you might change these later). You might do this by learning outcome or behaviour, topic or thematic block Then start blocking-out learning activities against each week and guess-timate how long each of these will take As you work, use the design prompts down the side of the template to critique your design, and test it against the perceived skills, assumptions and expectations of your Persona pen portraits.
