The Article Petronio Residency Center A luxurious research and development site for dancers and choreographers in southeast New York One of many dance residency sites in the Catskills All of these institutions were created in response to the same problem: Ever-rising real estate prices in New York City separating chronically underfunded choreographers from the time and space they need to work (Seibert 1). Mr. Petronio struggled to find affordable space for decades before relocating The area has developed into a flourishing community of dance organizations and performance sites There is slight concern, however, of overpopulation and competition.
Application The change: increasing real estate prices in New York City Mr. Petronio, along with many other choreographers, had to adapt to the changing real estate market and relocate for the benefit of his organization. While the location was not ideal and the process was a major adjustment, he could now afford to keep the organization running. Application Now that the Petronio Residency Center has adapted to the economic environment, they face a new problem: competition. Mr. Petronio was not the only dance organization to relocate to Catskill. Many well-established performing companies and venues have dominated the market. Mr. Petronio has formed partnerships to ensure he is not once again booted from his current location. He is making smart management decisions that will guarantee success and survival for the Petronio Residency Center.
