Microgrant Information Source Virginia Department of Education Office of ESEA Programs Office of Parental Engagement Purpose Provide information, training, and strategies to students, staff, and parents related to internet/social media overuse and addiction. Amount $10,635 Departments collaborating Student Wellness EELC Schools Title 1
Desired Outcomes To assist students, staff, and parents with understanding the perils of excessive social media and internet use. Promote the benefits of a balanced approach which includes: More social interactions with live individuals Less screen time More physical activity Improved sleep quality Decreased anxiety Increased opportunities to focus on academics.
Interventions Supported by the Grant Mindfulness program Speaker to address mental health concerns associated with Internet/social media addiction. Webinar that addresses internet addiction. Professional Development Library with materials related to social media addiction and related mental health concerns.
