Meetings were held on May 26, 2021 with all staff in Calhoun County as part of the planning process. The goal of the meetings were to collect the following: School/County data Needs Assessment Technology reports Student Services data Data that was reviewed School and County Strategic Plans Attendance records student/staff Semester and end of the year grades, D/F/I State assessment scores GSA Input from all stakeholders Use a Team Approach to Planning

Addressing Learning Loss/Learning Recovery and Innovation Addressing Learning Loss Employment of an additional special education teacher at the elementary schools, Employment of an additional middle school math teacher. Maintain employment of multi-subject teachers in the elementary schools to keep class sizes as small as possible. Employment of additional aides in the following classes, small kindergarten class, all first-grade classes, all fifth-grade classes, resource special education classrooms. For a total of 11 additional aides. Employment of a elementary assistant principal to focus on student data, SAT/504/IEP, social-emotional needs of students and implementation of grant supported ideas. Addressing Learning Loss/Learning Recovery and Innovation Parent Resource facilitator to work with students and families to help the students and families access services needed for success. The Parent Resource facilitator a will also work with high school juniors and seniors to help with College and Career readiness, FAFSA application, grant applications, promise scholarships and work applications. The Parent Resource facilitator will also follow students for one-year post-high school graduation to continue to assist students transition into college, post-secondary education and/or work place. Addressing Learning Loss/Learning Recovery and Innovation Calhoun County Schools will provide additional technology for student and teachers to use to complete classroom activities Calhoun County Schools will purchase education programs that will supplement the classroom instruction including research-based tier 2, tier 3 programs and additional benchmarking oral reading programs. Calhoun County Schools will purchase a program that will allow students access to online library books and a program that will track the library books in the schools that students check out. Calhoun County Schools will provide low income students with the materials needed in classrooms. Learning Recovery and Innovation Calhoun County Empowerment Carl Perkins, CTE Calhoun County has worked with WVDE and SREB the last two years to develop an innovative approach to middle school education that empowers students and teachers through shared purpose. Calhoun County has made a commitment to expand to district wide Empowerment Academy. The goals of the Academy are: Expect persistent efforts to meet high standards Engage students through challenging, authentic problem solving. Explore careers, interest, passions, gifts. Empower students and teachers through shared purpose. Supportive Structures are Empowered Environment, Experiential Learning, and Entrepreneurial Mindset. Cost $150,000 August 12, 2021-June 30, 2024

Calhoun County used the services of a substitute school nurse to provide additional support to students and families. Provide best practices information to student, staff, and families. Additional custodians will be employed to ensure that all areas of the school are maintained for cleanliness. Addressing Learning Loss/ Health and Safety Additional cleaning supplies will be provided to all schools to ensure that the cleanliness is maintained. New mop machines will be purchased to increase efficiency, timing, and effectiveness of ongoing sanitation efforts in schools. Cost $ 265,000 July 1, 2021 - August 30, 2024
After-School Programs Learning Recovery and Innovation Calhoun County will offer a comprehensive after-school and Saturday program for all students. Calhoun County will have 110 days of after-school activities After-school activities are tutoring, healthy choices, exercise, homework help, Saturday activities will be offered suggested activities are Junior Ranger activities, West Virginia Parks VIP program, dance, exercise, and social- emotional learning support. We will run four buses to aid student participation. Calhoun County will also offer day-time tutoring for high school students Cost $175,000 August 12, 2021-August 30, 2024
Summer Enrichment Learning Recovery and Innovation Calhoun County Schools will offer comprehensive summer enrichment that includes recovering learning, credit recovery, and summer enrichment for all students in Calhoun County. The summer enrichment will be offered at all three schools for 6 weeks in the summer. The style of the summer enrichment will be instruction and camps. Instruction includes employment of teachers, counselor, aide, students as tutors, 4 bus drivers, and cooks. Students will receive instruction in reading, math, drivers education, We will also offer a special camp for students that are entering kindergarten called kinderboost We will also offer a pre-k jump start for students entering preschool. Community-in Schools and Social-Emotional support are being offered this summer. Special Education extended school year Meals provided through Summer Food Program Cost $225,000 from June 2022-August 1, 2021
Learning Recovery and Innovation Summer Camps Camp Instructors for the following camps: STEM Science Adventures Astronomy Culinary Love of Music Night Skies Community Service Outdoor Math Prep ACT prep Small Engine Repair Law and Public Safety Hunter Safety Other will be offered if we have interest. Students were surveyed for interest.

All projects funded with this money will be monitored for progress and success. One of the monitoring strategies we will be using WIG process that includes lead/lag, and scoreboards for monitoring success. Monitoring Progress Each school will also be monitored by central office three times per year and one time in the summer for implementations of the strategic plan goals. This funding will be available through September 30, 2024. We must use these funds wisely and attempt to create sustainability.
Personnel needs will be reviewed annually to meet the needs of the students. The county will explore running an excess levy to maintain programs that have shown to impact student learning. Summer School: Grants will be explored to maintain programs Afterschool Programs: Grants will be explored and the consideration of an excess levy to pay for progams. Sustaining Activities After 2024
The plan will be posted on the Calhoun County Schools website and in all schools. The plan will be available for public review at the Calhoun County Board of Education office from July 7 July 21, 2021. A press release will be provided to the local newspaper regarding the plan and will the plan can be viewed. A public hearing will be held at the Calhoun County Board of Education meeting on July 21, 2021. Public Input and Notice
