(Mostly blood related Living donor Tx, prior approval from Health Authority obtained) 1 Canadian Chinese patient travelled to China for deceased kidney transplant in 2015. Illegally imposed to another patient s identity. Hospital transplant license revoked; transplant surgeon s license revoked; (Reported by Dr. Philip O'Connell from Australia) From 2007 to 2016: Joint task force of NHPFC and Ministry of Public security Cracked down black intermediary: 32 Criminal suspects arrested: 174 Investigated medical institutions: 18 involving 50 medical staffs (Medical licenses revoked and imprisoned) Eradicated the black marked dens: 14
Proposal to resolve organ trafficking and transplant tourism in China and globally China: Legislation and legal enforcement is the key to resolve the organ trafficking and transplant tourism Regulation on Human Organ Transplant (2007) banned organ trading Regulation on Human Organ Donation & Transplant (Proposal) Ministry level regulation banned transplant tourism in 2007 VIII Amendment of Criminal Law (2011) criminalized the organ trading Globally: Cross-nation registry data cross-check at to identify unreported transplants (International traceability) China call for a WHO Task Force to supervise and coordinate the global effort to resolve organ trafficking and transplant tourism.
