Lesson Summary ADM Papp noted that he made many mistakes. He noted that junior officers should use the chiefs for their knowledge and experience. We have members in the Auxiliary with the same skills. He noted the Commanding Officers that get in trouble usually are not humble and show humility but there self-service balance is usually off. He also noted that when things go well you do not learn why; it takes a failure to force you to recognize what you did wrong and what you need to do to correct it. After describing his first two commands he noted that leadership is not about him but about those he served. 5 USCG Auxiliary Deck Plate Leadership Series
