Welcome to South Hampshire College Group This presentation provides you with an overview of all areas that will be covered as part of your induction as a student at South Hampshire College Group, either at one of our college locations; Fareham College, Eastleigh College, Southampton College, or as a fully online learner on SHCG Online.
What is an ILP key terminology guide? ILP this refers to a student s Individual Learning Plan. This will be managed and supported by the student and Tutor/Trainer with SMART targets to enable students to achieve their goals and be supported There is a range of different learning and portfolio platforms used across the group for students (Canvas, OneFile, EQUAL, PEARL and a selection of other bespoke platforms)
South Hampshire College Groups values are Collaborative, Inclusive and Aspirational (the adult student guide has more information on these) British values are fundamental principles that form the basis of society and identity in the United Kingdom. These values include: Democracy The rule of law Individual liberty Mutual respect for and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs, and for those without faith (more information can be found in the adult student guide) British Values / College Values
IT and Platform Induction It is important for you to understand and utilise the college s IT systems, software and platforms to support in your learning. All students will be taken through the process and introduced to these by their Tutor/Trainer. There are also IT departments at each college and a team supporting our online learners.
Fire safety your tutor/trainer will take you through the relevant sites fire safety procedures on your first day (Not applicable for online learners) A full health and safety tutorial will be covered for any students that are using equipment or workshops as part of their course If students are required to use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), this will be either given or students informed so that this can be obtained by them If students are utilising the internet or online as part of their course, then the Tutor/Trainer will take them through protocols (online safety will also be covered during the year as part of the monthly tutorial) Health and Safety / PPE
Safeguarding and Prevent SHCG is committed to ensuring the safety of all our students and as such clear support and guidance for students is listed in the student guide.

During the year students will be asked if they would participate in Student Voice and surveys Students will also be kept up to date on all you said, we did where students have put forward feedback and suggestions and these have resulted in changes We also encourage students to pass feedback to their Tutors/Trainers outside of these areas Student Voice

ALS Additional Learning Support If you require any additional learning support, please raise this to your Tutor/Trainer. SHCG are committed to supporting all students to help them achieve their goals.
Towards the end of your course, you will be fully supported in your progression and next steps. Resources will be available to you, as well as support from your Tutor/Trainer guiding and supporting you through this. What is next?
