Learn about and use the privacy and security settings on your social networking sites to help you control who sees what you post and manage your online experience in a positive way. Remember: once posted, always posted. Protect your reputation on social networks. What you post online stays online. Think twice before posting pictures you wouldn't want your parents or future employers to see. Research indicates recruiters rejected candidates based on information they found online. Summary Statement Social media has allowed me to connect with people not only from my school, but also the surrounding schools in my area. This is incredible for making connections especially when being in a field (music industry) where connections are how you become successful. This is also where people are able to see the work I ve done as a producer/engineer and social media makes it easy for people to reach out for work purposes. It s a great place to showcase not only your personality but also what you do. It s a presentation of yourself to the world and that can be immensely helpful when building connections. Platforms like linkedin and instagram are some of the best to use for making connections with others. Linkedin is a lot more professional while Instagram is more for fun but a balance of both professionalism and personality is key Emma T. - College Junior
