Equal Rights Amendment Update Virginia was the 38thstate to ratify the ERA, ratification finalized on January 27, 2020 If no controversy about timelines and dates, the ERA would be effective next week (2 years after final ratification) January 27, 2022 Make a fuss about the ERA Raise Awareness Virginia, Illinois, Nevada appealing ruling denying request that the Archivist publish the ERA and consider it part of U.S. Constitution Court dismissed the case ruling that the Archivist s failure to publish caused no harm, so the states had no standing to sue ZontaUSA Advocacy Caucus signed onto an Amicus Curiae Brief of the ERA Coalition in support of the appeal Brief focused on harm that would / does occur without the ERA in place Filed January 10, 2022 More that 50 groups signed onto this brief supporting VA, IL, NV
