AfDB Statistics Capacity Building Program
African Development Bank's Statistics Capacity Building Program focuses on key work streams such as coordination, data production, statistical innovations, and more to support development efforts in Africa. The program aims to enhance statistical capacity in Regional Member Countries for effective data-driven decision-making and sustainable growth. It covers a wide range of intervention areas including energy statistics, agricultural and rural statistics, environmental statistics, national accounts, pricing statistics, poverty and inequality-related statistics, labor statistics, social statistics, and macroeconomic statistics. The program also collaborates with various partners to harmonize statistics and improve data quality across the region.

Broad Intervention Areas_1 Energy Statistics Implementing the Africa Infrastructure Knowledge Program (AIKP) to generate energy statistics to inform the Bank s Light Up and Power Africa agenda. This includes generating projections for investment needs in the energy sector in RMCs for the period 2015-2025 - Implementing the Action Plan for improving agricultural and rural statistics in Africa to inform agricultural and rural development policies in Africa. Agriculture & rural statistics, environment - Supporting RMCs to improve environment and climate change statistics to inform the green growth and transformation agenda in Africa - Improving national accounts including natural capital accounts in RMCs by fostering the use of international standards in RMCs to measure value added, providing support for the GDP rebasing to better reflect the evolving economic landscape National Accounts 4
