  1. 9% Affordable Housing projects CEHD made recommendations to M&C on October 2022 to make minor changes on how Home funds and housing vouchers are allocated to better compete for LIHTC projects.   2. Choice Neighborhood Grant HCD received a $50M federal grant for the Thrive in 05 district which will enable the rehabilitation of Tucson House (400 units) plus a significant number of new affordable housing projects. CEHD was a check point for HCD through the application process and provided feedback to staff on the proposal.

  3. HOME Funds In February 2024, CEHD reviewed applications by 3rd party developers for allocation of the City Homes Funds. CEHD recommended that 5 of the 6 applicants be awarded $500k each. This is an integral part of the application process for LIHTC projects to the State of Arizona.

  4. Other M&C Recommendations Reinstating the Housing Trust Fund M&C is currently evaluating a 0.5% increase to sales tax of which a portion will be allocated to affordable housing Zoning reform is targeted for implementation by early 2025 to enable more sites to allow high density housing The fast track review process for affordable housing projects is currently being codified by PDSD. Bond initiative Housing Goal 15,000 units by 2030.

  5. Other Accomplishments We have brought a number of new commissioners on board who are experts in their fields and bring expertise to the commission on affordable housing and equity issues. CEHD has been a checkpoint for HCD on the strategies, planning and changes which are being proposed to M&C. CEHD is a community champion to support the City s affordable housing initiatives. CEHD has provided feedback to ADOH on recommended changes to the Qualified Allocation Plan. We are in the process of establishing better communications with the City s Equity Department.
