  1. A321 neo ACF Additional information Petition for exemption letter 14CFR Part 25 25.807(g)(7) Marie-Laure Moulard 15 Apr.2018

  2. Airbus request for exemption letter Exemption from 14CRF Part 25 25.807(g)(7) Emergency exits at Amdt.141 has been posted on the Docket to increase the passenger limitation for all Type III exits from 70 to 105 passengers on A321 neo ACF. 25.807 (g)(7) requires: The combined maximum number of passenger seats permitted for all Type III exits is 70, and the combined maximum number of passenger seats permitted for two Type III exits in each side of the fuselage that are separated by fewer than three passenger seat rows is 65. Airbus is seeking an exemption to allow relief from 25.807(g)(7), Amendment 25-141 to allow the A321 neo ACF to be eligible for up to 235 passenger seats when the airplane is configured with a Door 3 de-rated to a Type III exit . This request is intended to increase the passenger limitation for all Type III exits from 70 to 105 passengers.

  3. Additional information pertaining to that letter Although not explicitly written in the letter, the Exemption from 14CRF Part 25 25.807(g)(7) Emergency exits at Amdt.141 also covers the increase of the passenger limitation for all Type III exits from 70 to 74 passengers on A321 neo ACF when one of the over wing exit is deactivated: When the door 3 is de-rated to a Type III exit, the combined credit allowed for the pair of over-wing Type III exits and the Door 3 de- rated into a Type III is limited to 70 according to 25.807(g)(7). In accordance with IP CS-4 (FAA memorandum AT10637IB-T-CS4), the maximum number of passenger seats permitted on each side of the fuselage is 39 for the over wing exits . This leads to a combined credit of 74 for the Type III (39) and the Door 3 de-rated into a Type III (35).

  4. Additional information pertaining to that letter Airbus confirms that the supporting argumentation provided in the frame of the exemption letter for the combined double Over wing exits and Door 3 de-rated into Type III applies also to the configuration with one pair of over wing exit deactivated (forward or aft). Airbus considers that these additional configurations (one Over wing deactivated) are covered by the above mentioned letter and would appreciate to receive FAA concurrence .
