  3. E-Registry and digitisation What IT system do you currently use for your registry? OVS uses a couple of IT systems at the moment. Vitalchek is used by the public to request documents that OVS is able to provide. System Interlinking American Samoa (SILAS) is currently in use by the Local Vital Statistics Cooperative Program (VSCP) which consists of OVS, DOH, and LBJ. SILAS is a longitudinal data system that allows multiple programs to work independently but also share data across programs SILAS holds key reporting data such as annual birth # s and other birth data, since 2008, looking at including marriage licenses and certificates Shared data produces consistent reporting to Federal funding agencies Do you have plans to upgrade or change your IT system? OVS plans to expand on both hardware and software capabilities in the near future Is the current system linked to health sector, statistics, national ID or other government IT systems? SILAS is currently not linked to National systems, however, the vendor and system developers are planning to provide these links in the future. SILAS is connected to CDC s database through an online connection called SAMS Portal. OVS has been submitting birth and death data in SILAS through this connection and running data quality testing as well How historic records are stored still on paper or electronically too?
