THESIS SATEMENT In The Right Word, ImtiazDharker s use of diction, tone and imagery conveys how words and their different meanings have an affect on a person s view of people or a group.
Remember that they have told us what each paragraph needs to focus on. Paragraph One Diction Paragraph Two Imagery Paragraph Three Tone The important thing to keep in mind, is to make sure you link diction/tone/imagery to the thesis statement. Those three tools are what you are going to use to prove you are right.
Formula for success: PEEL P = POINT. This is your opening statement. This needs to link to your TS. E = EXAMPLE. E = EPLAIN. L = LINK. Connecting sentence to the next point (not relevant for the 3rdbody paragraph)
How do you start? Remember your TS. Well use it. Use linking words to connect your TS to your first point. WHAT? HOW? AAAAHHHH What is your first point DICTION. What are trying to prove? Okay now put it all together
Through the use of (_diction_), (poets name)(what you will be proving TS ) Through the use of diction, Dharker shows how in describing someone words can mean different things depending on your perspective.
Now you have your opening statement. You now have to prove this to be true. HOW? SHOW ME YOUR EVIDENCE! Take examples from the poem, explain the example.
(Authors name) then put your example in and EXPLAIN them. Dharker uses words such as ______to show (explaination)
Now that you have this middle of the paragraph, you need to have a concluding sentence. Your concluding sentence simply sums up and prepares the reader for the next paragraph. Dharker uses diction to clearly show how in describing someone words can mean different things depending on your, this can also be seen in her use of imagery.
