Apply to be an accredited researcher In order to apply for and use the ONS Longitudinal Study you need to be an Accredited researcher. Whilst you are developing your ONS LS application with CeLSIUS you should register with the Research Accreditation Service and apply for accredited researcher status (see: https://researchaccreditationservice.ons.gov.uk/ons/ONS_Registration.ofml). Complete Safe Researcher Training (online) and pass post-training assessment. It is important that this process is completed when CeLSIUS submits your ONS LS application.
Work with CeLSIUS to complete the ONS LS application forms There are three forms that you need to complete in order to apply to use the ONS LS: Research Project Accreditation Application form. ONS Longitudinal Study Supplementary form. Ethics Self-assessment sheet. Send the completed forms to CeLSIUS to review (celsius@ucl.ac.uk). CeLSIUS User Support Officers will review your application and send you feedback. We may suggest a meeting to talk through your application. Once the forms have been completed and any recommended changes made, CeLSIUS will submit your application on your behalf. Please do not submit your own application as ONS has specified that applications to use the ONS LS must be submitted by CeLSIUS.
ONS Application Review process CeLSIUS submits Project Accreditation Application form, ONS LS Supplementary form and Ethics Self-Assessment form on the Research Accreditation Service platform. ONS Longitudinal Study team and LS Research Board reviews application. ONS Research Accreditation Service team reviews application. ONS collates approvals and sends to Research Accreditation Panel with application for review. Research team sent Accredited Researcher Assurance Registration form (ARAR) to sign and return to ONS. Project approved. Project set up on the Secure Research Service platform. CeLSIUS extract your data.
