Operations for BLIP 4/15-22/2025: No BLIP this past week Short 200 and117 MeV exposures took place last week; longer 200 MeV exposure began Monday and is ongoing. 46 hr production 3.12 hr setup 0.55 hr failures Availability: 98.9%
NSRL activity past week: 4/15-22/2025 (as of 0800) NSRL running continues, with various users running NSRL Hours Experimental Setup Failure Machine Development Machine Setup Operator Training Scheduled Maintenance Scheduled Shutdown Science Tandem Au and Linac protons in use, for single ion modes. Failure, 2.67, 2% Science, 16.44, 10% Machine Setup, 17.03, 10% Running 25-A schedule since 3 February. Schedule posted, updates to 28 June for beams & users. 25-C schedule also in planning stages for July- September. Operator Training, 12.53, 7% Scheduled Maintenance, 3.20, 2% Scheduled Shutdown, 116.13, 69% Availability: 94.5%
Notes from Operations Notable failures (>1 hr) RHIC Blue main dipole system failure, ongoing AGS extraction bump failures, ongoing AGS L20 septum failure, ongoing AGS horiz tune meter kicker PS failure, PSI replaced Booster A6 RF fault, PS replaced at PLC Booster B3 RF failure, HLRF power-cycled to respond to functions AGS B3 cold snake corrector quad failure, local/remote & regulation issues Filtered to present running state. Other notes Various Tandem foil changes, Linac trips/resets Not zero... Over 41 hours injector pp setup, other studies (when injector systems are available)
Reminder from Operations MCR beam operations continue Operator/OC shifts continue for NSRL users, 2 shifts/5 days this week and next. NSRL ions from Tandem, Linac protons as required (pending resumption of AGS Au) GCR pending EBIS restart. BLIP production throughout this week, ending 2 May. RHIC beam setup suspended pending warmup/repair AtR beam pending extraction PS failures. AGS Polarized proton setup, other studies continue 2 shifts/5 days pending AGS failures Note: MCR will not be occupied continuously. No OC on duty overnight. Operator remains overnight for BLIP (and OPPIS) Contact CAS in off hours (x2024) for urgent issues when MCR is not staffed. Teams phone setup: awaiting ITD.
