2.1 Development of the Pacific Indicator Guidelines PSMB13 May 2024
Background behind the Guidelines At the 6th Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development in Nov 2022: Participants stated the need for guidance in developing a realistic set of indicators that could be used by small islands developing States (SIDS) to report on the SDGs, other global and regional sector-specific reporting needs, as well as meet their own national reporting requirements

Progress thus far An EGM was held in Nov 2023 in Fiji to commence work on a set of indicator guidance notes for the Pacific Drafting of the Pacific Indicator Guidelines Pilot testing aspects of guidelines in Tonga, Kiribati, Fiji throughout 2024 Two Work Streams
Pacific Indicator Guidelines outline developed at EGM Key Sections of the current Draft 1. Different Types of Reporting Requirements 2. Understanding your National Indicator Landscape 3. Alignment of reporting processes and managing relevant indicators 4. Producing Sound Statistical Indicators for National Reporting Clarity Measurability Comparable Appropriate Meta-data rich 5. Reporting Processes and Challenges 6. Alignment to NSDS

Finalize a solid draft of the Pacific Indicator Guidelines Needs simplifying make an easier read More reviews from stakeholders (experts) Present to PSMB, PFSD, APFSD 2. Commence plan to develop the most appropriate link between Pacific Indicator Guidelines and National Indicator Strategy 3. Continue Piloting in Kiribati, Tonga & Fiji All three countries are in the process of either commencing or finalising their next National Development Plan, so no shortage of activities we can link to Drafting/Finalising NDP indicators Commence drafting National Indicator Strategy
Long Term Plan (2024 2027) Seek endorsement from key stakeholders on Project Initiative Secure funds to support all interested PICTs Development of National Indicator Strategies Development of a platform to disseminate Core Set of Indicators for interested PICTs
