November / 1st Grade / Art Masterpiece Alexander Calder Born in 1898, an American Artist.
Mother was a painter and father was a sculptor. His parents encouraged him to create art and he had his own tools where he made toys out of wire and wood. Some of his art work was inspired by the Circus. He liked to bend and twist wire.
Went to college to study engineering. First artist to explore sculpture that moves KINETIC Sculputre. MOBILE- Hanging or suspended art that parts move by air current or by touching. Parts seem to float.
Created many other types of art. Large sculptures to paintings. Do you see repeated Lines Colors Shapes?
