Astraea: the virgin goddess of justice Shelby Nemeth
There are arguments over who her parents are. Her parents are either Zeus and Themis or Eos(the goddess of the dawn) and Astraeus(the god of dusk ). Since she is the daughter of Zeus, Astraea has many siblings including Hercules.
Astraea is not to be confused with Asteria, the goddess of the stars and daughter of Coeus and Phoebe. Astraea lived on the earth next to the humans during the Golden Age.
She lived on earth during the golden age when all lived in peace together. As humankind became more violent, the gods left earth and returned back to the heavens. Since Astraea was patient, she was the last of the immortals to abandon the earth.
The legend says that Astraea will return ton earth with her sword in one hand, and her balance in the other.
When Astraea left earth and returned to the heavens as the constellation Virgo. The balances which Astraea carried became known as the constellation Libra.
