PREPARATION Becoming an astronaut requires some of the most intense preparation of any endeavor in the world. It requires multiple disciplines over a long amount of time that comprises physical, mental, and intellectual training.
REQUIREMENTS Some of the requirements necessary to become an astronaut: Can take up to 2 years. Must be a US citizen. Must possess a Master s degree in a STEM field. Must possess a Doctorate, preferably in Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine, or a STEM field; or 3 years substitutive experience. Must obtain at least 1,000 hours of pilot-in-command time on jet aircraft. Must learn medical procedures, military water survival training.
REQUIREMENTS Must learn Russian and take public speaking classes. Must learn space shuttle controls. Must practice maneuvering in weightless situations (Vomit Comet). Must practice moving objects in zero gravity. Must practice space walking (up to 7 hours underwater). Must obtain scuba certification.
REQUIREMENTS Must compete with up to 1,800 other candidates. Must be willing to relocate to Russia or Canada. Must pass long-duration flight astronaut physical. 20-20 vision, <140/90 BP Must be between 5 2 - 6 3
There may be more requirements, but those found are extensive. What is the purpose of this training? To prepare an individual for what is NECESSARY to survive in space as an astronaut. Attempting to send someone into space as an astronaut without the necessary training would be cruel; they would not survive.
PREPARATION (BIBLICAL) Proper preparation is everything. Preparation most often determines outcome. Lack of preparation often results in disastrous outcomes. Amos 12:11-12
I have overthrown some of you, as God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, and ye were as a firebrand plucked out of the burning: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD. 12 Therefore thus will I do unto thee, O Israel: and because I will do this unto thee, prepare to meet thy God, O Israel. 13 For, lo, he that formeth the mountains, and createth the wind, and declareth unto man what is his thought, that maketh the morning darkness, and treadeth upon the high places of the earth, The LORD, The God of hosts, is his name. AMOS 4:11-12
PREPARATION (BIBLICAL) Proper preparation is everything. Preparation most often determines outcome. Lack of preparation often results in disastrous outcomes. Amos 12:11-12 Not preparing oneself can be disastrous, but not preparing another can be cruel. Gen. 6:13
And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth. 14 Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch. GENESIS 6:13-14
PREPARING (DAVID) When David went to fight Goliath, Saul tried to prepare him for the fight. 1 Sam. 17:37-39
And David said, fThe LORD who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said to David, Go, gand the LORD be with you! Then Saul clothed David with his armor. He put a helmet of bronze on his head and clothed him with a coat of mail, 39 and David strapped his sword over his armor. And he tried in vain to go, for he had not tested them. Then David said to Saul, I cannot go with these, for I have not tested them. So David put them off. 1 SAMUEL 17:37-39
PREPARING (DAVID) When David went to fight Goliath, Saul tried to prepare him for the fight. 1 Sam. 17:37-39 The preparation of man failed him, but preparation in God brought him victory. 1 Sam. 17:45-47; 40,
Then David said to the Philistine, You come to me with a sword and with a spear and with la javelin, but I come to you in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, ewhom you have defied. 46 This day the LORD will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you down and cut off your head. mAnd I will give the dead bodies of the host of the Philistines this day nto the birds of the air and to the wild beasts of the earth, othat all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel, 47 and that all this assembly may know that pthe LORD saves not with sword and spear. qFor the battle is the LORD s, and he will give you into our hand. 1 SAMUEL 17:45-47
Then he took his staff in his hand and chose five smooth stones from the brook and put them in his shepherd s pouch. His sling was in his hand, and he approached the Philistine. When the Philistine arose and came and drew near to meet David, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet the Philistine. 49 And David put his hand in his bag and took out a stone and slung it and struck the Philistine on his forehead. The stone sank into his forehead, and he fell on his face to the ground. 1 SAMUEL 17:40, 48- 49
PREPARING (DAVID) When David went to fight Goliath, Saul tried to prepare him for the fight. 1 Sam. 17:37-39 The preparation of man failed him, but preparation in God brought him victory. 1 Sam. 17:45-47; 40, 48-49 Saul not attempting to prepare David would have been cruel; David not preparing himself would have been disastrous.
PREPARING (ESTHER) When Esther was chosen as a candidate for the king, she was prepared to meet the king. Esther 2:12
Now when every maids turn was come to go in to king Ahasuerus, after that she had been twelve months, according to the manner of the women, (for so were the days of their purifications accomplished, to wit, six months with oil of myrrh, and six months with sweet odours, and with other things for the purifying of the women;) ESTHER 2:12
PREPARING (ESTHER) When Esther was chosen as a candidate for the king, she was prepared to meet the king. Esther 2:12 To go into the presence of the king, Esther prepared, but she and Mordecai understood that preparing with God was most important. Esther 5:1-2 Esther 4:13-17
Now it came to pass on the third day, that Esther put on her royal apparel, and stood in the inner court of the king s house, over against the king s house: and the king sat upon his royal throne in the royal house, over against the gate of the house. 2 And it was so, when the king saw Esther the queen standing in the court, that she obtained favour in his sight: and the king held out to Esther the golden sceptre that was in his hand. So Esther drew near, and touched the top of the sceptre. ESTHER 5:1-2
Then Mordecai commanded to answer Esther, Think not with thyself that thou shalt escape in the king s house, more than all the Jews. 14 For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father s house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this? 15 Then Esther bade them return Mordecai this answer, 16 Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish. 17 So Mordecai went his way, and did according to all that Esther had commanded him. ESTHER 4:13-17
PREPARING (PRIESTS) For those chosen to serve God, it is imperative that they serve God properly as He commands. Lev. 10:1-3
And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took either of them his censer, and put fire therein, and put incense thereon, and offered strange fire before the LORD, which he commanded them not. 2 And there went out fire from the LORD, and devoured them, and they died before the LORD. LEVITICUS 10:1-3 Lev. 10:3 Then Moses said unto Aaron, This is it that the LORD spake, saying, I will be sanctified in them that come nigh me, and before all the people I will be glorified. And Aaron held his peace.
PREPARING (PRIESTS) For those chosen to serve God, it is imperative that they serve God properly as He commands. Lev. 10:1-3 God must be served as Holy; we must prepare ourselves using the standards of God to serve Him. 1 Pet. 2:9-10
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: 10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy. 1 PETER 2:9-10
WHAT ARE YOU PREPARING TO BE? Throughout our lives we are preparing for an end. That end is based on what we have prepared for. Are we preparing to be like animals? Gen. 1:28
And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. GENESIS 1:28
WHAT ARE YOU PREPARING TO BE? Throughout our lives we are preparing for an end. That end is based on what we have prepared for. Are we preparing to be like animals? Gen. 1:28 Are we preparing to be like man? Gen. 6:5; Ecc. 3:19-20
And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. GENESIS 6:5 For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity. 20 All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again. ECCLESIASTES 3:19-20
WHAT ARE YOU PREPARING TO BE? Are we preparing to be like angels? Heb. 2:5-9
For unto the angels hath he not put in subjection the world to come, whereof we speak. 6 But one in a certain place testified, saying, What is man, that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man, that thou visitest him? 7 Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy hands: 8 Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under him. 9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man. HEBREWS 2:5-9
PREPARING TO LIVE IN THE HEAVENS Heaven was made by God for God. Matt. 23:22
And he that shall swear by heaven, sweareth by the throne of God, and by him that sitteth thereon. MATTHEW 23:22
PREPARING TO LIVE IN THE HEAVENS Heaven was made by God for God. Matt. 23:22 To dwell in Heaven, we must be as God 1 Pet. 3:20b - 22
when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water. 23 The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ: 22 Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him. 1 PETER 3:20B-22
PREPARING TO LIVE IN THE HEAVENS Heaven was made by God for God. Matt. 23:22 To dwell in Heaven, we must be as God 1 Pet. 3:20b - 22 God prepares us to be like Him (as His son was like Him) Rom. 9:22-24 1 Jn. 2:24-25
What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction: 23 And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory, 24 Even us, whom he hath called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles? ROMANS 9:22-24
Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father. 25 And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life. 1 JOHN 2:24-25
YE ARE GODS In order to live with God, we must be as God. In order to be as God, we must take on/practice the traits of God. All things good and holy. A God that PREPARES US for what is needed to live with Him. If we do not prepare on earth to live in heaven, we will not be able to live in heaven. Jn. 10:32-38
Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me? 33 The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God. 34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods? 35 If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken; 36 Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God? 37 If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not. 38 But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him. JOHN 10:32-38

But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry. 6 For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. 7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: 8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. 2 TIMOTHY 4:5-8
