School District of Athens Vision: Our Athens school community will cultivate and promote a positive, inclusive culture of respect with equity, integrity, and dignity. Students will be empowered to thrive emotionally, socially, and academically within a proactive, compassionate, and nurturing system of support. Mission: Our mission is to promote a safe, inclusive, engaging learning environment to promote critical thinking, citizenship, and student empowerment through strong school and community relationships.
2022 - 2026 School District of Athens Strategic Plan Student and Staff Engagement Purpose Statements: Provide a rigorous and relevant curriculum delivered by high quality educators who use innovative, research-based strategies to prepare students with the skills necessary to contribute and create value to our ever-changing, diverse world now and in the future. Develop the whole child by providing high quality programming and resources to support the social-emotional well being of all children to ensure that each student is healthy, safe, engaged, supported, and challenged. Provide classroom environments where students engage in collaborative, inquiry- based learning, facilitated by educators who are able to use technology to transform knowledge and skills into solutions, new information, and products.
Goal # 2: Implement a guaranteed and viable curriculum aligned to the standards with a scope and sequence 4K - grade 12. Continuous Improvement Process (CIP) and plan A guaranteed and viable curriculum (GVC) ensures that all students have an equal opportunity to learn (OTL). Each student will have access to an effective or highly effective teacher, and access to the same content, knowledge and skills in each section or class. Maple Grove Charter School: School Learning Objective English Language Arts (ELA) Reading: By the spring of 2023-2024 school year all learners K-5 will make adequate growth towards grade level proficiency or above. 24 learners will move from high risk (0-19%tile) to some risk (20-29%tile), 13 learners will move from some risk (20-29%tile) to low risk (30-84%tile), 59 learners will remain or grow from low risk (30-84%tile) to college pathway(85-99%tile), 10 learners who are in the college pathway (85%-99%ile) will maintain or continue to show growth as measured by FastBridge aReading assessment.
Maple Grove Charter School: School Learning Objective Math Math: By the spring of 2023-2024 school year all learners K-5 will make adequate growth towards grade level proficiency or above. 20 learners will move from high risk (0-19%tile) to some risk (20-29%tile), 13 learners will move from some risk (20-29%tile) to low risk (30-84%tile), 55 learners will remain or grow from low risk (30-84%tile) to college pathway(85-99%tile), 18 learners who are in the college pathway (85%-99%ile) will maintain or continue to show growth as measured by FastBridge aMath assessment.

Athens Elementary: School Learning Objective English Language Arts (ELA) ELA SLO: By the end of the 23-24 school year, within our positive school culture, all students in grades Pre-K to 5 will demonstrate adequate growth toward being at or above grade level (30th %tile - 84th %tile national norm) in reading as measured by the Fastbridge early reading (grades PreK-1) or aReading (grades 2-5) reading assessments with underprepared learners receiving appropriate tiered instruction and/or interventions as extension supports through our Equitable Multi-Level Systems of Support (EMLSS). 24 students will move from high risk (0-19%ile) to some risk (20-29%ile) 23 students will move from some risk (20-29%ile) to low risk (30-84%ile) 100 students will move from low risk (30-84%ile) to college pathway (85-99%ile) 15 students in the college pathway (85-99%ile) will maintain or continue to show growth as measured by FastBridge reading assessment. 2024 - 25 Action Steps ELA - English Language Arts Math Promote ELA growth toward being at or above grade level in reading for all students as measured by the state and local reading assessments. Promote mathematical understanding, problem- solving, communication, and growth toward all students being at or grade level in math as measured by the local math assessments. Certify all PK-2 staff in SOR Engage in PLCs and professional development learning for implementation of best practices utilizing the current math curriculum Ensure reading practices involve the Five Elements of Reading through principal and peer observation and coaching Explore Number Talks at all grade levels and engage students in math communications, reasonings, and number sense through professional development, PLCs, and targeted classroom discussions Conduct classroom and SOR and state-approved reading assessments and track student growth through PLC and EMLSS tiered approach Conduct student/teacher conferences and goal setting a minimum of twice a year Utilize student individualized supports and interventions to increase math fluency Utilize EMLSS and Data Analysis Protocols for team data analysis and action planning Conduct student/teacher conferences and goal setting a minimum of twice a year Increase routine inter-school communications and involvement of general education, Title, Sped, and other student supports using routine PLC, EMLSS, data team meetings, and communication resources
