  4. What are the requirements that my child must complete to participate in athletics?

Academic Eligibility and the Student-Athlete NCHSAA Requirements Must pass 6 credits the previous SEMESTER Cannot turn 19 before August 31st Cannot compete in more that 8 consecutive semesters Must have a valid physical on the mandated NCHSAA form Gfeller-Waller Concussion Form (Located in Ticket to Play) Must live in Olympic attendance zone Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Requirements Must have a 2.0 GPA (Waived for Fall 2020) Must have a full academic load (minimum of 3 block courses or 6 A/B courses) Must provide two (2) proofs of residency (lease, mortgage, deed must be one; utility bill, bank statement, etc) Athletic Participation Fee ($125) or Child Nutrition Services Letter detailing Free/Reduced Lunch status Must complete Ticket to Play Online Eligibility Forms (Required prior to participating in pre-season workouts or tryouts.)

PARTICIPATION FEE Students SHOULD NOT pay fee until after tryouts are completed and they have secured a spot on the official roster Only online payments will be accepted Fee is $125 per sports season Fee must be paid no later than the first contest in the sport. Once the deadline has passed, the athlete is not allowed to participate in any scrimmage or game until the fee is paid. Fee is non-refundable after the date of student making the team. Paying the fee does not guarantee any playing time or a full complement of games. Playing time is determined at the discretion of the coach and game attendance is determined by the Athletic Director.

  8. Olympic Athletics Code of Excellence Athletic participation is a privilege, not a right. Athletic participation may be denied for violating the Code of Conduct. CODE OF EXCELLENCE

  9. Important Rules to Remember : Athletes are expected to attend all practices, meetings, games, and any events the coach deems mandatory. The coach should be notified of the absence prior to the absence. The coach has the authority to determine whether or not the reason for absence is considered excused. To be eligible to participate in practice or games, an athlete must be in school for at least half the school day (2.5 blocks). If suspended, the student is ineligible to participate that day. Weekend participation is determined by attendance on Friday. Athletes are required to travel on the team bus unless prior permission is granted by the Athletic Director.

  10. What can my child expect while participating in athletics during the pandemic?

HEALTH & SAFETY IS OUR #1 PRIORITY Coaches and Athletic Department personnel have been trained in proper disinfection procedures and how to implement safe, health screenings for student-athletes. Coaches are required to follow CMS and NCHSAA guidelines regarding Returning to Athletic Play Sanitization stations with hand sanitizer and wipes will be present at every workout and practice. Equipment, entry/exit points and restrooms will sanitized before and after each workout/practice. NCHSAA MODIFIED SKILL DEVELOPMENT GUIDELINES

  12. STUDENT-ATHLETE REQUIREMENTS Must check in with coach and receive pod assignment prior to reporting to first workout. Students are not allowed to just show up without speaking to a coach first Must have a face covering when reporting to workouts and practices (Face covering can only be removed when participating in a drill or other physical activity) Must have own water bottle. Water will not be refilled on site. Must have all necessary paperwork completed prior to first workout. (Ticket to Play, CMS Communicable Diseases Waiver, NCHSAA Initial Screening Form) Must participate in Daily Health Screening prior to workouts Must arrive to campus dressed for workouts and leave immediately after workout is over (No locker room usage or hanging out is permitted)

  13. WORKOUT GUIDELINES Workout are voluntary until the first NCHSAA practice date assigned to each sport. 1. 2. All workouts in all sports are restricted to on the school campus. 3. Workouts should not begin prior to 3:15pm (M-F) and should conclude no later than 8:15pm. The high school virtual academic day is over at 2:45pm. Student-athletes must be allowed time to complete the academic day and to arrive at their school campus for workouts. 4. Saturday workouts are permitted with principal approval and must be completed no later than 4:00pm. 5. Workouts are limited to a maximum of 90-minutes each day, all inclusive. 6. A student-athlete is limited to one skill development workout each day. 7. A multi-sport student-athlete is limited to skill develop workouts with one team during pre- season skill development workouts. The student-athlete and family will make the decision on which sport. When in-season NCHSAA practice begins in one sport, a mutli-sport student- athlete may practice with the in-season team and halt pre-season skill development workouts with the other team(s). A multi-sport student-athlete may practice with both teams when both enter NCHSAA in-season practice periods.

  14. COVID-19 SYMPTOMS OR POSITIVE TEST INITIAL Screening Form (signed on initial day of workout) - if answered YES to any question. Not allowed to participate without the NCHSAA RETURN TO PLAY FORM (After Acknowledgement of COVID-19 Symptoms) signed by a licensed physician, licensed physician assistant, or licensed nurse practioner and parent/legal custodian. STUDENT-ATHLETE is sent home or did not come to a workout due to the display or acknowledgement of daily questions on signs/symptom(s). Not allowed to return without the NCHSAA RETURN TO PLAY FORM (After Acknowledgement of COVID-19 Symptoms) signed by a licensed physician, licensed physician assistant, or licensed nurse practioner and parent/legal custodian. STUDENT-ATHLETE diagnosed with COVID-19. Student-athlete cannot return without the NCHSAA RETURN TO PLAY FORM (COVID-19 Infection Medical Clearance Releasing the Student-Athlete to Resume Full Participation in Athletics) signed by a licensed physician, licensed physician assistant, or licensed nurse practioner and parent/legal custodian. EXPOSURE of a student-athlete, coach, staff member to a person who tests positive for COVID-19. 1. All members of that pod quarantine (stay at home) 14-days after last exposure, unless they produce documentation of a negative PCR COVID-19 test.

  15. COVID-19 SYMPTOMS OR POSITIVE TEST COACH/STAFF is sent home or did not come to a workout due to the display or acknowledgement of daily questions on signs/symptom(s). Not allowed to return without the NCHSAA RETURN TO PLAY FORM (After Acknowledgement of COVID-19 Symptoms) signed by a licensed physician, licensed physician assistant, or licensed nurse practioner and the coach/staff member. COACH/STAFF is diagnosed with COVID-19. Coach/staff cannot return without the NCHSAA RETURN TO PLAY FORM (COVID-19 Infection Medical Clearance Releasing the Student-Athlete to Resume Full Participation in Athletics) signed by a licensed physician, licensed physician assistant, or licensed nurse practioner and the coach/staff member.
