  1. Attributes of the Succesful (Al-Muflihoon)

  2. 1) Correct Faith and Sound Creed

  3. "Who believe in the Ghaib and perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), and spend out of what we have provided for them [i.e. give Zakat , spend on themselves, their parents, their children, their wives, etc., and also give charity to the poor and also in Allah's Cause - Jihad, etc.]. "And who believe in (the Quran and the Sunnah) which has been sent down (revealed) to you (Muhammad) and in which were sent down before you and they believe with certainty in the Hereafter. "They are on (true) guidance from their Lord, and they are the successful. [Surah Al-Baqarah 2:3-5]

  4. A guide and a mercy for the Muhsinun (good-doers) " Those who perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as- Salat) and give Zakat and they have faith in the Hereafter with certainty. Such are on guidance from their Lord, and such are the successful [Surah Luqman 31:3-4]

  5. 2) Great love for the Prophet, which leads one to honour him, give victory to him, and follow him.

  6. "Those who follow the Messenger, the Prophet who can neither read nor write (i.e.Muhammad) whom they find written with them in the Taurat and the Injeel, he commands them for Al-Ma'ruf; and forbids them from Al-Munkar ; he allows them as lawful At-Taiyibat [(i.e. all good and lawful) as regards things, deeds, beliefs, persons, foods, etc.], and prohibits them as unlawful Al-Khaba'ith (i.e. all evil and unlawful as regards things, deeds, beliefs, persons, foods, etc.), he releases them from their heavy burdens (of Allah's Covenant), and from the fetters (bindings) that were upon them. So those who believe in him (Muhammam), honour him, help him, and follow the light (the Quran) which has been sent down with him, it is they who will be successful" [Surah Al-A raf 7:157]

  7. 3) Purifying ones Heart

  8. "Indeed he succeeds who purifies his ownself (i.e. obeys and performs all that Allah ordered, by following the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism and by doing righteous good deeds)." [Surah Ash-Shams 91:9] "Indeed whosoever purifies himself (by avoiding polytheism and accepting Islamic Monotheism shall achieve success. [Surah Al-A la 87:14]

  9. 4) Having Taqwa and Striving Hard to approach Allah.

  10. "They ask you (O Muhammad) about the new moons. Say: These are signs to mark fixed periods of time for mankind and for the pilgrimage. It is not Al-Birr (piety, righteousness, etc.) that you enter the houses from the back but Al-Birr (is the quality of the one) who fears Allah. So enter houses through their proper doors, and fear Allah that you may be successful. [Surah Al-Baqarah 2:189]

  11. "O you who believe! Do your duty to Allah and fear Him. Seek the means of approach to Him, and strive hard in His Cause as much as you can. So that you may be successful. [Surah Al-Maa idah 5:35]

  12. 5) Taking care of the Prayer, Having Khushoo', Turning away from Vain Talk, Paying Zakat, Guarding ones Chastity, Being faithfully true to ones Amanaat.

  13. Successful indeed are the believers. Those who offer their Salat (prayers) with all solemnity and full submissiveness. And those who turn away from Al-Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk, falsehood, and all that Allah has forbidden). And those who pay the Zakat And those who guard their chastity (i.e. private parts, from illegal sexual acts)

  14. Except from their wives or (the captives and slaves) that their right hands possess, for then, they are free from blame; Except from their wives or (the captives and slaves) that their right hands possess, for then, they are free from blame; But whoever seeks beyond that, then those are the transgressors; Those who are faithfully true to their Amanat (all the duties which Allah has ordained, honesty, moral responsibility and trusts etc.) and to their covenants; And those who strictly guard their (five compulsory congregational) Salawat (prayers) (at their fixed stated hours) [Surah Al-Mu minoon 23:1-9]

  15. 6) Remembering Allah much

  16. Then when the (Jumu'ah) Salat (prayer) is finished, you may disperse through the land, and seek the Bounty of Allah (by working, etc.), and remember Allah much, that you may be successful. [Surah Al-Jum ah 62:10] O you who believe! When you meet (an enemy) force, take a firm stand against them and remember the Name of Allah much (both with tongue and mind), so that you may be successful [Surah Al-Anfal 8:45]

  17. 7) Remembering the Graces of Allah and His Uncountable Favours

  18. So remember the graces (bestowed upon you) from Allah, so that you may be successful. [Surah Al-A raf 7:69]

  19. 8) Distinguishing between the Halal and Haraam; Evil and Good

  20. Say (O Muhammad): "Not equal are Al-Khabith (all that is evil and bad as regards things, deeds, beliefs, persons, foods, etc.) and At-Taiyib (all that is good as regards things, deeds, beliefs, persons, foods, etc.), even though the abundance of Al-Khabith (evil) may please you." So fear Allah much [(abstain from all kinds of sins and evil deeds which He has forbidden) and love Allah much (perform all kinds of good deeds which He has ordained)], O men of understanding in order that you may be successful [Surah Al-Maa idah 5:100]

  21. 9) Staying away from unlawful earnings and bad money, especially Riba (Usury).

  22. O you who believe! Eat not Riba (usury) doubled and multiplied, but fear Allah that you may be successful [Surah Aal-Imran 3:130]

  23. 10) Abstaining from all sins that are the handiwork of the Satan; like Khamar and Gambling.

  24. O you who believe! Intoxicants (all kinds of alcoholic drinks), gambling, Al-Ansab, and Al-Azlam (arrows for seeking luck or decision) are an abomination of Shaitan's (Satan) handiwork. So avoid (strictly all) that (abomination) in order that you may be successful. [Surah Al-Maa idah 5:90]

  25. 11) Whoever is saved from his own covetousness.

  26. And whosoever is saved from his own covetousness, such are they who will be the successful. [Surah Mujadilah 59:9] So keep your duty to Allah and fear Him as much as you can; listen and obey; and spend in charity, that is better for yourselves. And whosoever is saved from his own covetousness, then they are the successful ones. [Surah Taghabun 64:16]

  27. 12) Submission to Allah.

  28. The only saying of the faithful believers, when they are called to Allah (His Words, the Quran) and His Messenger, to judge between them, is that they say: "We hear and we obey." And such are the prosperous ones (who will live forever in Paradise [Surah An-Nur 24:51]

  34. 2) The Shahadateen; Sword of Falah The Muslims captured a man from Banu 'Uqail. He said: "I am a Muslim", whereupon he (the Prophet) said: "Had you said this when you had been the master of yourself, you would have gained every success." [Muslim]

  35. 3) Commitment to Obligations Talhah bin 'Ubaidullah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: A person with dishevelled hair, one of the people of Najd, came to the Messenger of Allah ( ). We heard the humming of his voice but could not fully understand what he was saying, till he approached close to the Messenger of Allah ( ). Then I came to know that he was asking about Islam. The Messenger of Allah ( ) said: "There are five (obligatory) Salat during the day and the night." He said: "Am I obliged to perform any other (Salat) besides these?" The Messenger of Allah ( ) said, "No, but whatever you observe voluntarily." He ( ) added, "There is the Saum of Ramadan. The inquirer asked: "Am I obliged to do anything besides this?" The Messenger of Allah ( ) said, "No, but whatever you do out of your own free will. You may observe voluntary fasting."

  36. .. And the Messenger of Allah () told him about the Zakat (obligatory charity). The inquirer asked: "Am I obliged to pay anything besides this?" The Messenger of Allah ( ) said, "No, but whatever you pay voluntarily out of your own free will." That man turned back saying: "By Allah! I will neither make any addition to this nor will I decrease anything from it." (Upon hearing this) the Messenger of Allah ( ) remarked, "He is successful if he proves truthful (to what he is saying)." [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

  39. 6) Staying away from Shirk Imraan ibn Husayn narrated that the Prophet saw a man with a brass ring on his hand and said to him, "What is this?" The man replied, "It is to protect from Al- Waahinah" The Prophet said, "Remove it, for verily it will not increase you except in weakness, and verily if you died with it on you, you will never be successful" [Ahmad]

  40. 7) Asking Allah for Falah O Allah, I ask you for soundness in Faith, and Faith in Good Conduct, and Success followed by Success, and Mercy from You, and Wellbeing, and Forgiveness from You, and Pleasure. [Mustadrak Al-Haakim]
