  3. Tuition Tuition for the Academic year 2017-2018 should be paid according to your personal payment schedule. Shared Services Center - Rm 244 for questions or concerns. No tuition payment? No Registration access.

  4. Checklist Find your Checklist online (auca.kg) and use it.   5. Credit Schedule AUCA awards students 3 additional credits each semester (tuition free) in the second, third, and fourth year of study. 33 credits each semester for Sophomore year. Use these credits for Gen Ed courses only 3 credit listings.

  6. Auditing Policy 6 audit credits are allowed but not required. Not recommended in Sophomore (2nd) year. If you choose Audit for a course and seats are available, Online Registration system will allow it. If Online Registration does not allow you to Audit a course there are no available seats.

  7. Prerequisites Pre-requisites: courses required prior to taking advanced courses (200, 300, 400 level). o Example: cannot take FYS 211 before FYS 100 o Example: Psychology 101 required before Psychology 250 o Fail PSY 125? Cannot advance to PSY 250

  8.   9. First Year Seminar :: REMINDER FYS I is offered ONLY ONLY in Fall semester. o Students who fail FYS I ( F grade) register for FYS I in Fall 2018. FYS II is offered ONLY ONLY in Spring semester. o Students who fail FYS II register for FYS II in Spring 2019. Failing either FYS I or II (24 credits each) can prevent you from taking SYS requirement in Sophomore year. Academic Advising, WARC, Professors, Counseling Services, fellow students are resources for you. Ask for help.

  10. Second Year Seminar :: REQUIREMENT Second Year Seminar (SYS) is a REQUIRED continuation of the First Year Seminar. SYS courses also fulfill General Education requirements. o For example: Technology and Culture, CODE: HUM/ART/SYS

  11. Math Requirements AUCA/BARD require all students to take 12 credits (two 6 credit courses) of MATH to earn a Bard College diploma. Students from Applied Math, BA, ECO, EMSD (in LAS) and SFW should NOT take General Education math courses. o These majors will fulfill MATH requirements as part of their program o READ your CHECKLIST

Math Requirements The General Education Department offers the following MATH courses that fulfill one of the Gen Ed Requirements: Introduction to Contemporary Mathematics I* Professor Musuralieva language of instruction is English Professor Atamanov language of instruction is Russian English Russian Introduction to Probability and Statistics Professor Musuralieva Professor Atamanov language of instruction is English language of instruction is Russian English Russian Math for Life I Professor Musuralieva -language of instruction is English English *Please pay attention to the language of instruction

Math Requirements ANTH, ES, IBL, ICP, JMC, LAS, PSY, SOC, TV, GEO ANTH, ES, IBL, ICP, JMC, LAS, PSY, SOC, TV, GEO Majors: to transfer to BA transfer to BA enroll in Intro to Contemporary Math I. o Students must receive a final grade of B+ or higher to transfer. ANTH ANTH, ES, IBL, ICP, JMC, LAS, PSY, SOC, , ES, IBL, ICP, JMC, LAS, PSY, SOC, TV TV, GEO GEO Majors: to transfer transfer to ECO, AMI ECO, AMI or SFW SFW enroll in Linear Algebra and Geometry for ECO/AMI/SFW.

  14. Math Requirements PSY PSY, SOC SOC, JMC JMC and VAFT VAFT Majors: take Introduction to Probability and Statistics by end of Sophomore year. o Preparation for advanced math course (SPSS) in Junior year. SPSS fulfills the second math requirement. ANTH department students should take an additional 3 credits in Computer Science.

Russian and Kyrgyz :: REMINDER Students are required to take 6 credits of Kyrgyz Language course and 6 credits of Russian Language course. o Look for double codes : ART/RUS, ART/KYR, HIST/RUS, HIST/KYR o Double coded courses fulfill two requirements. o Example: Echo of The Past: Soviet Sci-Fi in Film code RUS/ART fulfills Russian language and Art requirements. 6 credits of Russian and 6 credits of Art. Look for BEGINNER level of language to succeed in the course. INTERMEDIATE level is for fluent speakers.

  17. Foreign Languages Japanese (part I and II), Korean (part I), Chinese (part I) should be offered in FALL 2018. If so, in Spring 2019 students continue taking part II of the selected language. German, French, and Spanish (part I, II) are offered in Fall 2018. In Spring 2019 students continue taking part II of the selected language. If a student wants to take an Intermediate level course (as Part I), s/he must first take a test at European Studies department.

  18. Foreign Languages Courses in Second languages (FRN; GER; SPA): Second language for Touristic Purposes Ecological Tourism History of European Region Regional European Literature Intercultural Communication European and Asian Values Compared

  19. Language Course Policy Second language: All of them can cover Humanities or Social Sciences GenEd requirements. AUCA policy states that if a student earns (6) credits for one (Fall) semester of a language but does not take (6) credits of the same language the second (Spring) semester in that academic year, the grade and 6 credits will be removed from the student s transcript. Students cannot take 6 credit overload in a subsequent semester unless he/she pays for that overload.

  20. Bard College diploma Most majors earn a Bard College diploma upon graduation. BA & IBL majors must take additional credits for certificate: o 12 credits Social Science o 12 credits Art o 12 credits Math courses o 12 credits Humanities courses Law students might have an opportunity to receive BARD College certificate if majoring in Human Rights. For detailed information please contact the head of the IBL program.

  21. Sport classes 400 hours required for degree 100 hours per semester (4 semesters) Non-credit requirement; does not influence GPA ONLY one Sport class per semester NON PASS grade for a Sport class requires payment for a 5th semester / additional Sport class $200 fee.

  22. Sport classes Taking a sport outside the university or have a health issue (not allowed to take sports)? o Register for course: ID 3558; SPO-128.1 o Submit 3 outside university certificates or 1 medical document (spravka) to General Education Office General Education Office Manager, Room 310 Deadline: Early December, 2018 (for Fall 2018 semester.)

  23. Specialized Individual courses Individual courses are offered at an additional fee of $135. o Courses are 2 credits. o Submit an application at GenEd office (Rm 310) for consideration Individual music courses include: o Singing I & 2 o Piano I & 2

  24. History of Kyrgyzstan :: REQUIREMENT History of Kyrgyzstan REQUIRED during Sophomore year. Students take a state exam at the end of Sophomore year; History of Kyrgyzstan course increases success.

  25. Add/Drop period Monday, September 3rdto Friday, September 14th Please remember that adding and dropping courses can disrupt a professor s course schedule and the learning of fellow students. Choose wisely.

  26. W grade Deadline for Withdrawing ( W grade) from a class is always the 10thweek of the semester. If you decide to take a W grade: o Go to SSC forms link: https://ssc.auca.kg/forms/ Look for REGISTRAR section, Withdrawal form o Print and fill out the form o Get Head of Department (your Major) and Advisor signatures Submit to Shared Service Center, Room 244

  27. Department Advisors Know who your advisor is and how to reach them! 2nd, 3rd, 4thyear students have Department Advisors. Follow your Checklist do as much prep as possible. Academic Advising, Room 110 for FRESHMEN ONLY. You can still visit Academic Advising or Department Office Manager with questions.
