DALANA - ODONTALGIA According to Sushruta The disease in which the teeth seem as if being cleft as under with a violent pain is called Dalana or toothache the origin of which is ascribed to the action of the aggravated state of the bodily Vayu
SITADANTA OR DALANA (VAGBHATTA) From vita, is produced the disease known as Shitadanta or Dalana in which the teeth tolerate only hot things, causes severe pain by the touch of cold things the pain appearing as though splitting the teeth
TREATMENT Susrutha Vagbhatta Asadhya Vyadhi Swedana Lekhana Pratisarana Kavala and Gandusha with Vata-hara Dravya
KRIMIDANTAKA DENTAL CARIES The disease in which the teeth are eaten into by worms, is called Krimidantaka (caries) The teeth become loose and perforated by black holes accompanied by a copious flora of saliva. The appearance of an extreme diffused swelling(about the roots of decayed teeth) with a sudden aggravation of the accompanying pain without any apparent cause is also one of its specific feature Acharya Vagbhata explains it under Dantamoola roga
TREATMENT In case of strong tooth Lepana with Teekshna Oushada For loose tooth extraction followed by Agnikarma For perforated tooth Danta Purana
DANTAHARSHA HYPERSENSITIVITY The disease in which the teeth cannot bear the heat, cold or touch is called Dantaharsha It is due to the deranged condition of Vata
ACC TO VAGBHATTA In Dantaharsha, the teeth become intolerant to ( cold ) breeze, sour and cold eatables, painful and feel to be loose, caused by eating of (too much of ) sour thing only.

BHANJANAKA CRACKED OR FISSURED TEETH The disease in which the face is distorted, the teeth are broken and the accompanying pain is severe is called,Bhanjanaka (degeneration of the teeth). The disease is due to the deranged condition of the Vayu and Kapha
TREATMENT Kaphavatahara Chikitsa Ardita Chikitsa Abhyanga with Narayana Taila Swedana Vasti Gandusha Taila Pana
DANTASARKARA DENTAL TARTAR The disease, in which tartar. formed on the teeth and hardened (by the action of the deranged Vayu),lie in a crystallised form at the roots of the teeth, is called Danta-Sarkara (Tartar). Such deposits tend to destroy the healthy growth and functions of the teeth
ACCORDING TO VAGBHATA Accumulation of dirt on the teeth by not cleaning them ( daily ) or of kapha dehydrated by Vata, adhering! to the teeth, becoming hard and emitting bad odour, this is-known as Dantasarkara if neglected makes the crown of the teeth fall of little by little. This diseases is kapalika.

KAPALIKA ENAMEL EROSION The disease in which the preceding crystallised deposits get cemented together and afterwards separate from the teeth taking away a part of their coating (enamel ) is called Kapalika which naturally makes an erosion into and destroys the teeth
TREATMENT Kashtasadhya vyadhi Dantasarkara and Dantaharsha Chikitsa
SHYAVA DANTA BLACK TOOTH The disease' in which the teeth variously scorched by the action of the deranged Pitta and blood assumes a blackish or blue colour. is named as Shyava-dantaka (black teeth)
ACC TO VAGBHATA In Shyavadanta, caused by rakta, pitta and vata, the teeth assume blue ( black ) colour
TREATMENT Asadhya Vyadhi and Asymptomatic Generally
HANUMOKSHA TMJ DISLOCATION The disease in which the Vayu aggravated (by such causes, as by loud talking, chewing of hard substances or immediate yawning) produces the dislocation of the jawbones is called Hanu-moksha. It is identical with Ardita symptomatically

DANTABHEDA ln dantabheda the teeth are having pricking, cutting and bursting like pains TREATMENT Dantaharsha Chikitsa
CHALADANTA LOOSE TOOTH Chaladanta is shaking of the teeth, causing severe pain during eating.

ADIDANTA EXTRA TEETH Adhidanta also known as vardhana is eruption of extra teeth, pain severe during eruption and subsides aftereruption
