Curriculum and Scheduling Information Academic Levels for 6th grade students are determined by FSA scores. Students without previous test scores will automatically be placed in advanced classes. Call AP requesting a change. Regular(4) - Course title will read course name. Honors(0) Course title will read Advanced Honors. Gifted(G) is the same academic level as Honors. Identified in Math and Science in 6th grade and Math in 7th grade. Course title will read Gifted.
Promotion Policy Sixth grade students must pass language arts, mathematics, science and social studies to be promoted to seventh grade. Grading Scale A = 90 - 100 4 point value B = 80 - 89 3 point value C = 70 - 79 2 point value D = 60 - 69 1 point value F = 0 59 0 point value To pass an annual course, students must earn at least two quality points per semester. Students with at least two quality points will be assigned a final semester grade based on the average of two, nine-week grades. Students who do not earn the minimum quality points must make up the corresponding semester of the course ELP Extended Learning Program After school program designed to assist student in meeting promotion requirements.
Physical Education Students in the sixth grade will take P.E. 6th graders do not dress out. Required in 7th and 8th. Will not dress out. May opt out IF an additional elective is available and you provide information of physical activities outside of school. . No leaving early. Sports Program 1st nine weeks Boys and Girls Basketball 2nd nine weeks Boys and Girls Volleyball Boys and Girls Track 3rd nine weeks Boys and Girls Soccer 4th nine weeks Boys and Girls Flag Football Sports Packets are on-line. Stuff you need to know.. Middle school homework is done for part of the academic grade. Middle school teachers (in general) do not accept late work. Canvas is used to communicate with parents. Dress code is followed. No lockers We team - Tulane, Boston, Cornell and Vanderbilt

What every 6thgrade student wants to know . How much time do I have between classes? 4 Minutes. You will make it. How much contact am I going to have with the 7th and 8th graders? Not much. You have your own hallway. Where do I go if I am having trouble with other students? You will meet lots of staff that are here to support you. What kind of homework and how much of it am I going to have? Reading and Math every night. How much time will I get for lunch? 30 minutes Will I still see my friends from elementary school? We have over 400 6th grade students. You may or may not have classes with kids from your old school. You will make a ton of new friends. Schedule changes are made for academic concerns ONLY.
