About the Club Bedford Ladies HC was one of 8 Ladies Hockey Clubs from around the country that established the All England Women's Hockey Association way back in 1896 7 men s teams 7 ladies teams Ladies Masters (035 & O45 and O55) Mens Masters (O50 & O60) Academy (U14, U16 & U18) and a fantastic junior section (4 to 13) www.bedfordhockeyclub.com

Junior Pathway Potential Bedford HC Senior Teams 13+ Sunday Morning Bedford Hockey Club (4-12) Talent Centre Bedford Hockey Club Academy(U14,U16,U18) Talent Centre 12-18 (yr7- 13) 14+ EH Talent Academy and beyond Other Beds County U13,U15,U17) 14+ Bedfordshire Based Players
Junior Pathway- explained Child Eligible for BHC Senior League Hockey at 13 Can join Senior Training 12+ If not ready* can attend the BHC Club Academy Training (U14s, U16s, U18s) *This may be a player, parent or coach determination, based on skill and maturity. The Sunday Morning Training and BHC Academy Training make up the Bedford HC Talent Centre (BHC TC) Players from BHC TC may be nominated to County or direct to TA (TA open nomination for 2022_2023)
Juniors playing league Must be 13 or older Skills Match Awareness Confidence
Welfare Take welfare of our juniors very seriously Make sure they feel welcome and involved Usually start off in the men s or ladies 7/6s - we put them to work 7s - 4s have great mix of youth and experience Training : Men Tuesdays 7-8pm Women Wednesdays 7.00 8.30pm
What can you do? Join in Talk to and work with the captains Make sure you (or they) mark their availability by Tuesday night Be flexible many play club and school Don t push it isn t a race! Ensure they have safe transport e.g. no walking across to Biddenham
What doesnt help You may think your kid is the next Alex Danson, but don t push for them to move up too quickly Coaching from the sidelines Telling the coaches which position they should be playing your kid in
Selection (Senior Teams) All players to let their captains know availability ASAP latest by Tuesday night. (even if not sure ) using PITCHERO ( bedfordhockeyclub.com) Captains/ Coaches select on Tues/ Wed pm Personal communication if a player is asked to play down (or to parent if u18) with feedback Teams subject to change depending on availability doing what is best for the club
What we need from your child? COMMITMENT - to training and matches as much as they can PUNCTUALITY early is on time COMMUNICATION - availability as far in advance as possible CLUB PLAYER not just a Team player PARTICIPATE as fully as possible off the field socials etc

Kit Junior and Senior Kit is available via the Club Shop - bedfordhockeyclubshop.com Squad numbers will be given to all new senior players by the club captain Socks, shirt and skort or shorts advised We have different Kit sponsors for Sunday Juniors and Senior Hockey
