Belief in Apostles' Creed
A statement of belief called the Apostles' Creed is a prayer that reflects Christian faith. It is not the invention of theologians or the apostles but a historical expression of early Christian beliefs. The creed includes beliefs in God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit, emphasizing key events like Christ's crucifixion, resurrection, and ascension. The Apostles' Creed serves as a foundational statement for Christian doctrine and is shared across different Christian traditions.

A statement of belief is called a creed, especially in religious terms. The Apostles' Creed is a prayer that states what we believe as Christians. The text of the Apostles' Creed has minor differences based on the different Christian traditions (i.e. Church of England; Baptist Church; Methodist Church;Roman Catholic Church; Greek Orthodox Church
The Apostles creed is not the invention of theologians (people who study all there is to know and understand about God), just as it was not the invention of the apostles, ( the people who were alive at the time of Jesus and who responded to His call for them to work closely with Him to spread the Good News about God s kingdom.) It has come from what really happened in history and what that meant in their hearts and lives of those who first believed in Jesus. Tradition says, it was formulated by the 12 Apostles, and was developed by those early Christian teachers who were handing on the message of faith in Jesus, to others. Many of those who wanted to learn about Jesus, then went on to follow His teachings, and become Christians themselves. They would have been baptised by the bishop in the community and would profess the words of the creed.
I believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; he descended into hell; on the third day he rose again from the dead;
he ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty; from there he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.
