Did You Know? Knowing a 2nd language could make you more money? Approximately 1.5 billion people in the world speak English What about the other 7 billion? The US Dept of Labor estimates demand for translators/interpreters/linguists is going to increase by 42% in coming years Demand for bilingual workers doubled in 5 years
World Language Benefits: Universities expect/prefer at least 2 years of continued language study Cognitive/Developmental/Social-Emotional learning benefits multilingual speakers are able to multitask, are more aware of and sensitive to environment etc Higher SAT/PSAT scores for students who learn a 2nd/3rd language Improves English All languages have similar levels of difficulty/challenge
