  2. Biomedical Research Education Programs What is BREP? Working with High School Students Youth Workers, Interns, and Researchers

  3. What is BREP? Education in Research We offer an integrated and multidisciplinary approach to research education and training for undergraduate students through Post-Doctoral Fellows and Junior Faculty. 12 programs serving ~150 learners annually Office of Research provides administrative oversight and support. The School of Medicine and Office of Graduate Studies provide academic oversight.

  4. Working with High School Students - Options Youth Summer Program Worker 1 Youth Summer Program Worker 2 Academic Intern Research Experience for High School Students (REHSS)

Youth Summer Program Workers YSPW Type 2 YSPW Type 1 HS Graduate ( 24 months prior) Current HS Student General Office/Clerical General Office/Clerical Pay: $8.50/hr Pay: $8.00/hr Dates: 05/11 08/14 only Dates: 05/25 08/07 only Common Rules UNM Students or students related to the Hiring Official or Supervisor are NOT eligible. Work Permit Required (15) Non-Conflict Statement Acknowledgement for Supervisors of Minors ( 18) Must hire through UNMTemps Parental Consent ( 18) Proof of Education

Academic Interns Current HS Student or recent ( 24 months prior) graduate Professional: typically in an Academic Lab and/or Technical capacity Pay: Grade 06, $9.96 - $19.53/hr Dates: Year-round Common Rules UNM Students or students related to the Hiring Official or Supervisor are NOT eligible. Work Permit Required (15) Non-Conflict Statement Acknowledgement for Supervisors of Minors ( 18) Must hire through UNMTemps Parental Consent ( 18) Proof of Education

  7. Research Experience for High School Students (REHSS) Current HS Student or recent ( 4 months prior) graduate Professional: in an HSC Research Lab Pay: Up to the Mentor Dates: Year-round

  8. REHSS Rules Mentor Agreement and Parental Consent: Must be to BREP at least two (2) weeks prior. Mentee Must complete required training. Is not allowed to participate in or observe any research pertaining to live vertebrate animals. May work only in Biosafety level 1 or lower conditions. They may not work with, or enter into, BSL2 or BSL3 labs. Must be accompanied by the mentor, or an appropriate supervisor, at all times. Must be at least 16 years of age.
