Biomimetic Designs: Shinkansen Bullet Train and Kingfisher Inspiration
Fascinating world of biomimetic designs through the innovative case study of how the Shinkansen Bullet Train took inspiration from the Kingfisher bird to overcome noise and air pressure challenges. Discover how nature's solutions are revolutionizing human creations.

Biomimetic Designs: Shinkansen Bullet Train Eisa Al Ali First Year Seminar
Contents: My definition of bio-mimicry Shinkansen Bullet Train Kingfishers How are they related?
What is meant by biomimetic designs? *Definition: *Biomimetic designs refer to man-made processes, devices, substances or systems which imitate nature to develop new devices that enhance human life. *Through the help of biomimetic systems, scientists, researchers, engineers, and business people have increasingly turned towards nature for design and inspiration.
Shinkansen Bullet Train *The fastest train in the world *200 miles/hour= the maximum speed measured *Located: West of Japan (Shinkansen) *Introduced in the early 1960 s (1964) *Considered the most reliable high-speed train in the world! why?
Problems associated with the bullet train Noise! Every-time the train came out of any tunnel, it was produce an extremely irritating emphatic bang! How does this happen? It has been estimated that resident that are one-quarter a mile way could hear the noise The change in air pressure! Complain? Solution?
Kingfisher Kingfishers are a group of small to medium sized brightly colored birds. large heads, (long, sharp, pointed bills) short legs Stubby tails Something awkward: Whenever a kingfisher dives from air into water, the result is a negligible amount of water splash, how come that is possible? What is the secret beyond that? Is there any hints? Wondered Eiji Nakatsu
What is the solution? They found out the kingfisher secret move! Answer: The long Beak They redesigned the front end of the train using the beak of a kingfisher as a model. More Quieter train Balancing the air pressure comfortable Uses less energy Move faster
Conclusion Lots of human-beings tremendous designs are inspired by nature. Nature answers!
