  1. Blueprint for Mental Health & Wellbeing Who What Why When How What can you take out of this

  2. The Who The Tasmanian Minerals and Energy Council (TMEC) requested a workgroup be set up in recognition of the importance of Mental Health and Mental Illness to the mining industry, member organisations, their employees, and the broader community of which they are a part. A volunteer from each of the major mines and processing facilities joined the work group

  3. The What It was decided that the TMEC Mental Health working group adapt a Blueprint produced by NSW Minerals Council and the University of Newcastle s Institute for Energy and Resources, Centre for Resources Health and Safety and the Hunter Institute of Mental Health. The Blueprint is a guide for a company in the steps to creating a mentally healthy workforce.

  4. The Why In 2011-12, 15% of the Tasmanian population (est. 600 000 people) reported having being diagnosed with a mental health or behavioural problem at some time in their life (national figures were 12.6%). A mentally healthy workplace creates a positive working environment that builds individual skills and resilience, reduces workplace incidents due to mental ill health and supports staff with mental health conditions.
