Beaufort County School District Dual Enrollment Requirements Technical College of the Lowcountry Must be enrolled in a BCSD High School 3.0 Unweighted Grade Point Average USC-Beaufort Must be enrolled in a BCSD High School 3.0 Unweighted Grade Point Average ACT Requirement 17 Composite SAT Requirement 880 Combined Math/Reading Score **Students must provide own transportation English 1 must be completed with a B average or higher. Students currently taking English 1 must provide a grade report reflecting a grade of B or above. Algebra 2 must be completed with a B average or higher. Track Students who plan to enroll in the Career and Technical Education (CTE) track must hold a 2.5 GPA.
AP Capstone: An innovative program for high school students designed to build the analytic and creative thinking skills necessary for college success. Critical thinking: view issues from multiple perspectives and create arguments based on evidence. AP Seminar - students investigate real- world issues from multiple perspectives, gathering and analyzing information from various sources in order to develop valid evidence-based arguments. Collaboration: work alone, in a group, and with expert advisers to communicate your ideas. AP Research - students cultivate the skills and discipline necessary to conduct independent research and to produce and defend a scholarly academic thesis. Conducting research: explore various research methods and complete research projects on topics of your own choosing. Public speaking: Present and defend your work as a group and individually.
AP Capstone Recognition AP Seminar & Research Certificate - for students who earn scores of 3 or higher in both AP Seminar and AP Research. AP Capstone Diploma - students who earn scores of 3 or higher in both AP Seminar and AP Research and four additional AP Exams of their choosing.
College and Career Readiness Measurements College Readiness Measures Scores a composite score of 20 or higher on the ACT composite; Scores a composite score of 1020 or higher on the SAT composite; Scores a 3 or higher on an Advanced Placement (AP) exam in English, mathematics, science or social studies or an AP capstone. Completes at least six (6) credit hours in dual enrollment courses in an English or mathematics course or STEM course with a grade of C or higher. STEM is defined as a natural/lab science or computer science Career Readiness Measures Is a CATE completer and, where applicable, earns a national industry credential as determined by the business community. Earns a Silver, Gold or Platinum National Career Readiness Certificate on the WIN exam; Earns a scale score of 31 or higher on the ASVAB

SCOIS - Career Interest Inventories SCOIS is an on-line system that you do not need a password to enter. You will have access to several Career Assessments, College Information, Occupational Information, College Major Information, Career Clusters, School Subjects matched to careers, Financial Aid Information, Private Trade Schools, Career Videos, Building and Posting Resumes, Career Electronic Portfolios, Salary and Outlook information on Careers, Lesson Plans for Teachers, Career Guidance Tools for Parents, Accountability Reports for Administrators and much much more.
Google Classroom Like teachers, counselors utilize Google Classroom to share information with students, whether it be about summer educational opportunities, scholarships, oratorical contests, or educational information on how to research colleges, complete career interest inventories, access the district course catalog or look at available courses. Academy for Career Excellence ACE Apply 10thgrade Auto Collision (Auto Body Auto Technology (Mechanics) Building Construction Electricity Marine Technology Nail Technology Health Science (CNA) Welding Culinary Arts Law Enforcement EMS Emergency Medical Services Barbering Cosmetology Must apply for admission in Sophomore year Must be on grade-level Must be on track to graduate Must have a clean discipline record Must have good attendance Must have good grades There is no guarantee that you will be accepted into the program of your choice
Testing in High School Your student will take the following tests while in high school: - End Of Course Exams in : - Algebra 1/Intermediate Algebra - 9/10th or 11thgrade - Biology - 10th or 11th grade - English 2 - 10th grade - US History - 11th or 12th grade Pre-ACT sophomore year (must sign up sophomore year) SAT or ACT in Spring of Junior year WIN - National Career Readiness Exam - Junior year ASVAB - 10-12th grades (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) or the military entrance exam. Could also be used as a Career Interest Inventory. - - - -
College Research Researching colleges and universities can be quite daunting, however, the Collegeboard has made it easy for students to research colleges based on their preferences. Visit www.collegeboard.org and create an account. On the homepage, scroll down to the bottom to Big Future . From there, go to Plan for College and enter in your preferences (campus size, public vs. private, search by major, search by state, etc.). Build your college list - By doing this, you will also be entered into a pool for scholarships offered through the Collegeboard. Also on the Collegeboard, you can research scholarship opportunities as well as practice for the SAT!
