  2. What Are Bohns Nodules? Originate from minor salivary gland remnants or odontogenic epithelium Small, harmless cysts (1 3 mm) on newborn s gums Filled with keratin; firm, whitish-gray & painless

  3. Typically located on the buccal or lingual sides of the alveolar ridges Often more common in the upper jaw (maxilla) Appearance & Location Usually appear shortly after birth in clusters of 2 6

  4. Pathogenesis RESULT OF TRAPPED EPITHELIAL TISSUE DURING PRENATAL DEVELOPMENT CLASSIFIED AS KERATIN-FILLED CYSTS ORIGINATING EITHER FROM DENTAL LAMINA REMNANTS OR MINOR SALIVARY GLANDS

  5. Asymptomatic and non- threatening Clinical Course Spontaneously rupture or resolve in weeks to months (typically by 3 5 months)

  6. Visual exam is sufficient for most cases Differential includes Epstein pearls, dental lamina cysts, natal/neonatal teeth Diagnosis Radiographs only if natal/neonatal teeth are suspected

  7. Mainstay is parental reassurance and education No treatment required Management Regular monitoring, but active intervention is unnecessary

  8. If cysts persist beyond 5 months, are symptomatic, or mimic natal teeth When to Follow Up Refer for further evaluation to rule out other anomalies
