Our Mission: To provide a rigorous academic and holistic social-emotional learning program that eliminates the achievement gap for under-resourced students and ensures all students soar academically and develop as people of character who lead meaningful and productive lives, and contribute to their communities. Our Theme: Connection

  3. Reopening Plan Brass City Charter School plans to have all students return to campus for full-time instruction as long as public health data continues to support this model. 40% of our families have voluntarily opted for remote learning. This includes you!!

  4. Understanding our Commitment to YOU! We will: Offer: parent training in all platforms Prepare: challenging lessons in all subjects Maintain: a predictable schedule each day Provide: materials you will need Support: YOU and your child!

  5. We will provide: Chromebooks / tablets for all students Digital resources for reading, math, science, health, social studies Worktexts/Math manipulative materials sent home Instructional videos IT Helpline listed under Covid-19 Banner www.brasscitycharter.org

  6. Families will: Engage: their children to fully and effectively access the distance learning program Commit: to a full day of learning for all classes and subjects Designate: a space away from distractions such as TV or gaming systems Supervise:the completion and submission of all lessons Check: their email DAILY!!

  7. Understanding YOUR Commitment Time: To ensure your child is submitting of all lessons Attention: Paying attention to the details/deadlines Responsibility: Receive training in GC / other platforms Communication: Staying in touch with the teacher Supporting: Your child and the teacher in this effort

  8. Students will learn by: Synchronous and asynchronous learning depending upon age and individual needs of the child/family Small-group (including guided reading) instruction online via Zoom Frequent check-in meetings with a teacher

  9. Individual tutoring and family check-ins Completing all assignments by the due dates Utilizing all platforms assigned by teachers Reaching out for any help that they need

  10. Digital Platforms Google Classroom Ed- Your friend in Learning Zoom Amplify

  11. Google Classrooms Pre-K-5: One google classroom with your homeroom teacher 6-8: One google classroom per content teacher (6th graders will have two google classrooms, 7th and 8th will have four) Specials: One google classroom per grade including PE, Movement, and Music

  12. Special Education Students will have one google classroom IEP s dictate what services your child will receive Paraprofessionals will remain in place to support as needed Additional supports such as PT, OT, Speech and Language and Social work are provided by City

  13. ZOOM- Students will: Sign on a few minutes prior to the scheduled meeting Please be on time for their scheduled meetings Use their own name on the screen Be in appropriate clothing Be in a quiet space where they have privacy Manage the noise levels of others in the home Have all materials needed for the class on hand

  14. Assessments Classroom teachers will provide assessments to ensure that every student is reaching their potential. Feedback will be provided to the student in the following ways: Written feedback on student work Private comments on Google classroom Verbally during small group work One on one instructional time Graded on all work in Google classroom/other platforms Teacher to student emails

  15. Attendance We will take attendance every day! The state requires us to report excessive absences. If your child is sick, please send an email to: attendance@brasscitycharter.org

  16. Breakfast and Lunch Nutrition All families will have an opportunity to receive meals for their children. Please make arrangements in advance by emailing Mrs. Gaynor. dgaynor@brasscitycharter.org

  17. Changes We are asking for a two month commitment until the end of October. If you need to return to school at that time, please give us a two week notice.

  18. Materials Please pick up at school in person. DATE- TO BE ANNOUNCED

  19. Parent Teacher Conferences- September 2nd and 3rd https://www.ptcfast.com/schools/BrassCityCharterSchool Please make your appointment where you will discuss the expectations for the upcoming year. You will receive the Zoom link from your child s teacher the morning of the appointment.

  20. First Day of School- Sept 8 Your child will receive an invitation to a ZOOM meeting to welcome them back to school on the first day! Please help them get situated a few minutes prior.
