Athletic Department New Norms (Covid Caused) In-School Cohort Students are checked in for the day and do not need any additional screening to access athletics unless their situation changed while at school. If your child is coming from home and did not have in-person school, they need to be pre-screened / checked in . Specific Entry and Exit protocols for each venue. Prompt entry / start time. Prompt exit / pick up time. Please do your part. Face Masks Required at all times (obviously you do not wear a mask during hydration breaks) Through PPE Covid CARES funding, the Brewer School Department has purchased each dry- land athlete an Under Armour Brand sport performance face covering following team selection processes.
(Covid Caused) Athletic Department New Norms.. Continued Any locally decided REMOTE (aka RED) for Brewer School MIGHT prompt a PAUSE of athletics. SOMETIMES THE SCHOOL DEPARTMENTS NEEDS TO GO REMOTE INVOLVE AVAILABLE STAFF (SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS) AND NOT NECESSARILY AN OUTBREAK SITUATION. SPORTS AND ACTIVITIES ARE EVALUATED EACH TIME THIS OCCURS.
(Covid Caused) Athletic Department New Norms.. Continued LOCKER ROOMS- Locker room use is adversely affected by the Covid-19 situation. Locker room protocols are in place for each facility to only limit locker room use to NECESSARY uses. Change and Get out . NO OTHER USES OF LOCKER ROOMS PERMITTED. Players will be granted time to change if their session is immediately after school. All other players should arrive to the facility as ready as possible (sneaker swap should be the only thing remaining).
Day to Day Logistics: Loitering / Waiting Unless the event occurs immediately after school releases, all student-athletes are expected to GO HOME until their scheduled session / established entry time to the facility. We understand this could cause some transportation issues and even at times, prohibit a students ability to access athletics that day, but quite simply, students cannot remain in the buildings to hang out until a later scheduled practice or event time.
Entry and Exit of Facilities- BCS Main Gym Arrive as close to the practice start time as you can to be early and ready to go. For example, if practice is at 3:30, enter around 3:15, as ready as you can be (walk in to the building with everything on but your athletic sneakers). Drop off / parking / ENTRY to BCS Main Gym is the PAC/Gym entryway.
Entry and Exit of Facilities- BHS Main Gym Arrive as close to the practice start time as you can to be early and ready to go. For example, if practice is at 2:30, enter after school dismisses (2:15), as ready as you can be (walk in to the building with everything on but your athletic sneakers). Drop off / parking / ENTRY to BHS Gym is OUT BACK BY COFFIN FIELD / HANNAFORD!!!! The front / main entry doors will be locked. Pick up of your child can occur out front.
Indoor Spectators 2021 Per MPA and State of Maine regulations, spectators are not permitted at any home or away athletic contest at any school. Per executive order, the operating number is 50 individuals in a venue. Volunteers and Event Workers will be secured by the Athletic Department- not secured by coaching staffs and not secured by boosters clubs . Entry ways will be locked. Access to the school building will be limited to only those on the rosters for the game. All Home Events will be livestreamed on our FREE to view platforms. YouTube.com - search Brewer Witches Athletics . Some away venues do utilize pay per view platforms like the NFHS network. Unfortunately, this does include Senior Night . We do not have a plan for this yet, for any of the indoor winter sports. Seniors are collaborating on ideas for an event meaningful to them.
Game Day Logistics Entry time will be established for when players can access the gym. Do not be early. Post game will be tricky, as parents won t be on hand to take their child home after the game, and the players won t be able to stick around to watch the next game. We ask parents do their best to arrive at BHS promptly to pick their child up following the game. Coaches must supervise the athletes until all are picked up. Post Game Pick up point will be the BHS Front Entry for those players waiting for a ride following their game.
Athletic Department Norms (usual stuff) Sports Physical is a MUST. You have been notified if you owe one, and if it's not in, you don t participate. Pretty simple. Academic Eligibility- in order to access volleyball, students are to be academically eligible after the third academic quarter (BHS). This has been determined based on registrations. Notification has occured for those ineligible. Adherence to the Athletic Code. Chains of Communication. It is expected that communication is handled at the appropriate levels in the following order: Coach to / from player directly-- (Ideally and most effective as its the most direct to the situation/concern) Coach to / from parents directly. Administration to / from player directly. Administration to / from parents directly. Information. Generally can be found on sport specific web pages on www.gobrewerwitches.com. Schedule is up to date best we can with what we know right now. Girls Program will practice all together each night.
