Established by Statute in 1992 (KRS 154.12-203) Address matters of military significance Maintain relationships between the military community and the state Advise the Governor on military matters relating to the Commonwealth Improve the value and quality of life of military forces/installations Represent Kentucky s interests in BRAC activities Promote, foster and support economic progress in the military community Promote military-related private sector investment, employment, education Promote Kentucky as a military retirement destination Promote workforce opportunities for separating military personnel Develop federal grant programs to support these purposes

Goal 2: Expand the Economic Impact of Kentuckys Defense-Related Industry 42.7% economic growth since FY 2008, to over $17B Average state has declined 5.4% over the same period 55,866 Kentuckians in 2017 received direct DOD paychecks Military personnel, retirees, DOD contractors $5.4B in direct DOD payments in 2017 Primed for $2B growth over next two years Cabinet for Economic Development Kentucky Procurement Technical Assistance Center Partnerships with chambers, associations and state/federal agencies Air Force Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) program success story DOD Office for Economic Adjustment federal grant programs U of L and Thomas P. Miller & Associates studies $7.9M to Kentucky and Tennessee - Campbell Strong s Workforce Partnership Established Kentucky Aerospace Industrial Consortium $2M to U of L for Cyber Degree programs
